Best outdoor and EDC folder

If its goung to be used for bacon prep, then get one with an open frame for ease of cleaning. Also get a SAK Farmer.

Heres my Avid on a recent trip to Mars:

I have a Manix 2 DLC Combo Edge that I use for the same double duty at times... The ergos are very comfortable with plenty of jimping all around... The hollow grind on the blade provides some extra strength (IMO) for heavier abuse than the FFG blade... The S30v steel holds a great edge for a long time... The texture of the G10 scales provides a good comfortable grip even when wet... I have been using it with a sheath lately and this serves me well outdoors and adds some pocket real estate...

I was already looking at Manix 2 but I don`t like hollow grind (yes I know gayle bradley has hollow too but it`s high hollow)

I bought three Kershaw JunkYardDogs. Nice, long blade of composite D2. My outside knife. Cuts great. They're cheap. I like the G10; not titanium.

What is "heavy duty carving"?????

I suggest a Vic Farmer if its going to be used mainly outdoors....Vic Tinker or SuperTinker for all-around city/outdoors use.

Heavy duty carving is that you don`t carve decorative items but bigger things:

And please stop suggesting SAKs for wood carving because I already have two and they don`t carve well.

Even though I have a Gayle Bradley (and love it), I would go with an Endura (FFG or saber grind, take your pick). Mainly because of weight. I don't think you could push the endura far enough to break it just by carving.

I haven't found my modern knives to be very good for carving/wood working, so I can't really help. I tend to go from an Opinel for light carving, to a small belt axe for something like was shown in your picture. I know the Helle makes a folder that I've read good things about.

Yu could have told us that SAKs don't work for you from the outset! Because many people, including myself, feel they carve very well (even "heavy-duty" carving). If we had known that, we wouldn't have suggested them.

If you don't like a SAK, then something like a Case Sodbuster would also be an excellent choice. Thin, full flat....built to carve. A Whittler would be also, but it doesn't sound like that is "heavy duty."

Kershaw JunkYardDog in G10; composite with D2 blade; my favorite outdoor knife.

I have done an extensive carving project with my simple Benchmade Griptilian. I think the grip is hand filling enough that hot spots don't get bad. I was using leather gloves though. I'd think the Ritter Grip would be great.
Other ideas:
Benchmade Bone Collector
Hogue EX-01

The thing is that I have 0 modern folders and I really want a good quality one hand opening folder that can be used as EDC (non-city EDC) or outdoor knife and could handle some carving because when I need a knife in woods I mostly need it for carving but definitly not only for carving.
And right now I have opportunity to buy a good knife in price range up to 170$ and I don`t want to spend this opportunity for a Case or Great estearn cutlery but for good modern strong folding knife.

Enzo Birk 75, Helle Dokka folder, Enzo Birk PK70, and if you got the money Spyderco Nilakka Pekka Tuominen Folding Knife. I use a Bushlure Mini for my EDC with a kydex sheath. I had it on my IBA at the range one time and my First Sargent said nothing to me, but it's up to you.

A few suggestions.

Enzo birk is nice but I see that now you are showing me only carving knives;) don`t take my carving needs so serious.
But before buying anything I will go to knife store and try military and gayle bradley.

I am going to say a military is a great camp knife. If you ever plan to use your EDC for food prep, you can't beat the military!

Yep. I used mine in the kitchen yesterday.

A word of warning about the military. It will look and feel HUGE at first but give it a shot. Try some different hand holds and see if it works. It's not for everyone but most like it. I have medium sized hands and the military looks like a boomerang when I hold it. Love the knife though. My favorite modern folder.

For wood carving, it's hard to beat an Opinel, IMO. And it's sharp and thin blade is great for food processing too. An other option: the EKA Swede 88. It works well as an EDC knife, for wood carving and a lot of camp chores.

I already held it once (2 months ago) and I know that its huge but I will go and look it again and I will see if it is the right one for me.
