***DECISION MADE: I'm going to buy both and then decide! (Talk about wishy-washy)!!!
Looking for another survival knife around $100 (+/-). I'm considering the Ka-Bar Becker BK-7 and ESEE6 (3D), but would consider others. I'm wondering if there is any benefit to owning either of those, given that I already own an Ontario RAT-7, plus a bunch of others (Listed in order of blade length):
  • Cold Steel Recon Tanto (SK-5)
  • Glock Feldmesser 81 (1095)
  • Ka-Bar Turok (1095 CroVan)
  • Buck 119 (420HC)
  • Cold Steel SRK (CPM-3V)
  • Ontario SP2 (1075)
  • Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140 (80CrV2)
  • BPS Knives Adventurer (1066)
  • Ka-Bar1259 Short Clip (1095 CroVan)
  • Ka-Bar1256 Short Tanto (1095 CroVan)
  • Ka-Bar Becker BK2 (1095 CroVan)
  • Cold Steel SRK-C (CPM-3V)
  • Cold Steel SRK-C (SK-5)
  • Cold Steel Republic (CPM-S35VN)
  • SOG Pillar (CPM-S35VN)
  • Gerber Strongarm (420HC)
  • Cold Steel Master Hunter (CPM-3V)
  • SwissTech Stahlern (AUS-8)
  • Morakniv Garberg (14C28N)
  • DemkoArmiger 4 (80CrV2)
  • Morakniv Robust (Carbon)

Feeling patriotic, I suggest the Morakniv Garberg 😎🇸🇪

Or perhaps a puukko from neighbouring 🇫🇮

Or two SRKs? A second one as a backup in case you loose the first 😉

BPS Adventurer gets very high marks for performance vs price

Buck GCK - $85 (CKW), CS Drop Forged Survivalist, Buck 119, Case Marine Combat stacked leather, OKC RAT7, Spartan Alala, Mora Bushcraft (various variants $30-$70), OKC ASEK, OKC MK3... etc...

My vote is the Buck 104 Compadre.

Not to mislead you, but I don't have a picture handy of the current-production sheath. The one on the left was a special through SK blades, and the one on the right is an LT Wright sheath. The current production sheath is on Buck's website. The knife configuration on the right is the current production variant in hollow ground 5160, but you can find some different micarta and wood handles and different steels and full flat or hollow ground on the used market if you're patient. If I had to pick one fixed blade to get me through the rest of my life, this would be it. The one on the left is mine, the one on the right is my 16 year old son's. We've had and been using these for about 3 years now. They've processed firewood by battoning, processed deer, cut rope, garden hose, carved/whittled try sticks, scraped ferro rods, cut vines off lawn mower spindles, sliced tomatoes, peppers, and other food, and the list goes on...

Gerber Strongarm gets my vote, because thats the one I have that meets your requirements, I've been beating mine for close to two years and it's stuedy as a rock. Not that good of a slicer, but it's doable in my opinion.
