Best survival knife around $100? Considering Becker BK7 and ESEE6.

Time flies when you get OLD.

Signed,

A fellow OLD guy

Having Too Much Fun!

I do like that knife, I recommend It to everyone.
It out chops and out batons it's weight class. It's a Real worker. I think I got Mine for less than 60 bucks?

I had to re-apoxy the handle, and reflare another tubing. The handle feels just ok, but the knife performs so good, I give it a pass

in my mind, a khukuri with around a 10" blade- Indian Army or Ghurka type - is pretty much the ultimate survival knife for under a hundred bucks. Maybe at any price point.

Hard to beat a Becker BK9 ... I've had a couple BK7s but traded or sold both and replaced them with BK9s. For me the BK7 falls in that no mans land where it's not enough knife to handle big knife stuff well and it's just big enough it doesn't handle small knife stuff well.

So a BK9 paired with even a good folding knife or small fixed blade would be my budget go to.

UPDATE: After considerable consideration, I'm returning the RAT-7. OKC's QC leaves much to be desired, plus no warranty (out of business). Silly to spend $95 on that. Shame on me!!!

Absolutely...100%. "The King" and a reputable folder would be an excellent combo...

The problem for me is that the posts have been ALL OVER the place. Belt/bushcraft'y knife? (*~4") Field knife? (*5"-7.5") "Wilderness" knife/Chopper? (*8"+)

$100? $200? $300? WTF, over?!?

That being posted, I'd charge Hell with a hand bucket with my WTG "Kodiak" and a Buck 110 "Slim Select", but you're looking at about $275 for the two...

With that, my "one & done"/end of the World/"Apocalypse" fixie (*that everyone here is straight-up SICK of me posting) is a TOPS 107E, no doubt...

RESTATED (also in the original post):
So I'm still chasing that "perfect" mid-weight, mid-length survival knife in the $100+/- range, and can't decide between a Becker BK7 and ESEE 6 (3D), especially given my list of existing tools. I suppose it would help to know what I already have and to get an opinion if it makes sense to buy the ESEE6 or BK7 (in other words, are these two knives overlapping my other "survival" knives). If not, any other suggestions in the $100+/- range (I can't afford too much more than that price range)?

It’s about double your price point, but I think you need to add an LT Wright Genesis or GNS to that list.
