how do you figure?? do you feel as if you can easily take a sharp knife away from the average person if you were to find yourself in some kind of fight with them?

he should volunteer to try it against one of us =)

Wow, how stupid of me.

I thought by monkeys he meant a bunch of human thieves. Apologies.

Where do you live that monkey attacks have become a problem? Or by "increasing number of monkey attacks" do you mean the number haas increased from 0 to 1?

Regardless, the Benchmade 710, Spyderco Military or Spyderco Manix 2 should do the job for you.

I wote for EMERSON, with the wave its pretty tacticool, you can get almost any full sized version for 170-175. The CQC8 or CQC13 would be my choice for SD both has almost a 4" blade. Great Grip, razor sharp factory edge.

I love it:p

you need "reach" when it comes to Monkeys. I was attacked once as a kid, and saved by a gentleman with a golf club. I would suggest a baseball bat or sjambok or something with reach. If they come within your arm-reach, they really could be darn close to biting you (think rabies). Once you hit them, don't stop...because they won't.

Since someone mention Emerson and the Wave, Why not get a Waved endura 4? If you are looking for a bit more reach, try a Police 3 :D

Monkeys? Don't they travel in packs? If I was only facing one crazy MF monkey, I might feel confident with a knife.

However, as mentioned above, you do want the advantage of reach to avoid getting bitten.

Consider a can of pepper spray, or better yet, two cans, one for each hand to cover a wider area.

How about a shotgun?

Everything I have read, on this forum, about the LW Defender indicates that it is a beautiful knife, but that the blade develops horizontal and vertical play after only a few days. This seems to occur whether you use it or not. It is a pity as this is a very handsome piece of cutlery!

I would say about the only thing proven to deter monkeys is glow-in-the-dark numchucks.

Maybe you should get a dangerous looking tattoo instead?

Get yourself a Border Collie to chase the monkeys and round 'em up in a tight circle, then beat the $h*t out of them with a stick.:D. Or maybe fire bottle rockets into the trees. Pepper spray and good rape whistle would probably freak 'em out real good. If you're in the banana delivery business find another job. I could go all day...

A trained monkey knife-fighter would not need the range. He can fend off two monkeys with his left leg and two more with his trusty BM 710.

No, he figures MONKEYS can disarm the OP.:D

That's what I went with. CQC-8 SF with wave.

Secondary to my Glock, though.

ZT0200 is next on my list, and a Spydero Military is on the short list somewhere as well.

There ain't a folding knife in the world designed to defend against crazed rabid and possibly ninjitsu trained monkeys.

You're gonna need one of these.

And potentially one of these as a back up

Not the knife, but a Lynn Thompson.

Military for sure. I've (and regretfully) had to use the large handle as an impact tool once and one flick of the blade definetly did the trick to stop the confrontation
