Best Value Folders?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Benchmade Griptilian or MiniGrip.

Vic Alox Farmer, especially when you consider the versitility.
Benchmade Pika
KA-BAR Dozier

I agree with the Benchmade Griptilian. Also Kershaw Leek,Spyderco Endura or Delica.

All of the K-bar Dozier line. A screaming deal. :)
And if you lose one you won't cry for long. Cheap enough to buy by the dozen.

Byrd Knives
Victorinox Swiss Army Knives
Buck 110 and 112
Buck 300 Series

Superknife Folding Box Cutters
Rough Rider and Steel Warrior pocket knives

I followed the advice of a few of the fine folks on here and picked up a native, what a great knife for the money (fits me like a glove for such a small knife)!! All that's left to do now is beat the hell out of it and see what I think of the lock and steel. At that price I don't mind putting it through its paces to see what floats.

To me, from my experience, values: SAK (Victorinox), Byrds, and Gerbers (I've got a 19 year old LST that keeps going, and going, and going...).

For less than $10 at Target, the Victorinox Classic SAK is hard to pass up (perfect gift, too).

Victorinox Farmer, when you consider price, quality, size, and all the possible things you can do with it.

EKA makes several folders, locking and slipjoints, that are pretty good value, and a bit out of the ordinary, too.

Keep in mind that these are all subjective choices. Blade material, lockup, size and comfort all play their respective roles. Oh, yeah, and price.

My choices were bang for the buck. I left off the Spyderco Native because the blade was too small. Others might not need or want larger blades. To me, a good knife should be a cutting tool, an emergency tool and a defense tool. Plus, money is an object. And there are so many great knives out there that essentially we end up quibbling over small details.

In short, it would be unusual for us to all come up with the same list.

Buck 110 Cabela's AG, Buck 110 Custom, Buck 110
Spyderco 'Byrds' (any), Native
Swiss Army Knives (any Victorinox)
Kershaw Groove or Blur

Any Leatherman multi-tool (or any brand multi) for that matter is valuable because in essence you get hundreds of dollars of tools in one pouch! SAKs of course are along the same lines. For cutting only, Spyderco Delica and Endura are hard to beat. Lightweight, affordable, quality steel, been around for a while too.
