Where did you find one with scales such as those? That looks flippen sweet:thumbup:

What do you like better about it? I'm in the market for a new EDC blade and I'd like to hear your opinion.

I just got my Spyderco Tenacious PE and this has to be the best value ever! It puts my Native to shame, and I paid more for my Native. The only thing the Tenacious lacks is a super steel, but I'm sure the steel used in the Tenacious will be fine, as Spyderco wouldn't put out a knife with junk steel.

$32 I have a great blade, dual steel liners, great G-10, 4 position pocket clip, wonderful looking SS pocket clip. This knife is amazing! If someone handed it to me and had me guess the price, I'd have to say $80-90 at least.

I'd love to see Spyderco offer sprint runs with different steels, maybe different colored G-10. This is a great knife for the money! I'm not a big fan of liner locks, but this liner feels solid, and for $32 I'm not going to complain about the liner lock considering everything else you get with this knife. Spyderco really out did themselves with the Tenacious for the price they are offering it!

And thanks jaislandboy. I think I'm going to pick up one of those little guys.

Pretty much everything. :) I like the blade style better, I like the G-10 and dual steel liners over the FRN handle the Native has, I like the 4 position pocket clip, etc. It is a more solid knife, smoother opening action. I'm still amazed I only paid $32 for it. It has thicker steel liners than the Manix.

The only draw back I can see people having an issue with is that it uses a liner lock, but it feels solid to me for a liner lock.

Byrd line by Spyderco are a steal for the price and quality you get
Yes! I'm loving my all black PE Meadowlark. It's a bit heavy, but the blade is sharp and the lockup it tight and smooth. My only complaint is the thumb hole- I have a hard time flicking this knife open. If Byrds only had a thumb stud- oooo- (and maybe if they were a bit more light).
Question: Can you "Ghetto Wave" a Byrd? I'd like to try this out. Is it legal in NC to do so?
Also got a KaBar Short Heavy Bowie, $36 from knifecenter. A nice deal on a big hunkin mother of a knife.
Also- I almost ordered the much-praised Farmer, but departed from normal operating procedures and bought the Electrician Plus. It was only $5 more than the Farmer, and, although it lack a key ring, it makes up for it with its sheepsfoots blade with a wire stripper, which I sure could be used in stead of the can opener it replaced. (Also, you should have a P-38 or P-51 in any survival or camping kit, so why bother?)
People, stop posting links to AG Russels site! You're gonna make me spend money!!!

What would you put on your list of best value folders?

Well, Webster's primary definition for value is
"a fair return or equivalent in goods, services, or money for something exchanged"
So it doesn't have to be an inexpensive knife. Just one that you feel is worth what you paid for it. Or possibly one that you would have been willing to pay more for in order to get that level of performance.

To the list of knives already provided by others, I would add the Fallkniven U2 and probably the entire Fallkniven line.

umnumzaan :) i know what you are thinking but after having this knife, i do not want to use anything else, but i did have a beater tenacious and i did really like it... i do not like lockbacks, so i did not recommend a delica/endura, although they seem to be very high value. I am going to buy another tenacious when they do improve the steel on it to use as a hard beater knife. I did own a griptilian however the omega spring on the axis broke after a while of use, so i do not trust axis for long term use ie. passing on to your kids. just my 2 cents, which isnt even worth 2 cents :)

Kershaw Blur- any model is excellent. For a "higher-end" value, i think the S30V model is unbeatable in its class.
Buck Vantage Select- the Avid and Pro are high value as well but the select is very impressive for the price you'll pay.
Kershaw Skyline- just awesome overall
Ontario Rat 1- don't have to say anything here
There are a bunch of others out there, these are just the ones that stand out, in my opinion at least.

I'm with you on this one dude, with the price Spyderco offers it for the value is nearly unbeatable. The only thing that annoys me about this knife though is lack of a finger choil...I was handling my friend's Tenacious once and when I closed it I damn near cut the tip of my thumb off. Nasty little sucker.

Another knife that's better than the Tenacious IMO is the Ontario RAT 1. Around the same price, Knifeworks.com sells theirs for ~$25-$30.

the best knife value period is the Kershaw RAM. It completely dominates the entry level "nice" knife range that used to be run by the Minigrips and Delicas.

i cant see opening a knife with a fingernail cut in it anymore or having to carry in a belt loop pouch, might as well carry a fixed blade. i think the spyderco tenacious and its brothers offer allot of bang for the buck as do the delicas and enduras. i got my endura 4 ffg in vg-10 for about $48. couple other great carry knives are the kershaw blur and sog aegis both are available in good steels at the 50 ish mark. dont want to leave out the sog twitch and flash series either. if s30v is your bag certainly the native is one of the best options out there price wise and is a very high value knife. great steel quality build easy carry and deployment and its made in the usa.

Definitely the Buck Vantage Pro. S30V, Paul Bos heat treat, G10 handle scales, and all for around $50.

I wish Natives were still sold at walmart. That was probably the best deal ever in the cheap knive market...
