Spyderco Native S30V...been carrying for about 15 months. Great light duty folder. I have only had a couple of tasks were it didn't feel strong enough and I opted for a heavier knife.

I hear that Walmart sells them for $40... maybe you can slip it on the shopping list for your wife next time she goes. :)

KaBar Large Dozier, $28.00 bucks, I think could be the best damn foldier I have ever had out of the hundreds I have had in my lifetime.

The Spyderco Tenacious could be a contender for best folder for the money. I have not handled one but it looks very promising. The ZDP 189 series of delicas and enduras is also a bargain considering what you get for the money. The kershaw Lahar is an incredible knife for the price and I think the SOG Vulcan is a hell of an affordable knife. This is a great time to be a knife guy because there are so many great knives to be had cheap. I still am saving for a Sebenza, but the cheap ones are fun.

I'm still waiting for someone to claim that a Sebenza is a great value knife. The argument could be made that the guy who buys a Sebenza and then stops buying will spend less than the guy who buys lots of less-expensive knives, always looking for something a little better than the last.

Of course, the guy who starts collecting Sebenzas is a whole different story.

I'm putting in a vote for the Buck 419. It's every bit as good as a custom Buck 110 and that means it is as good or better than half of the custom folders I have ever handled while going out the door at about one-third the price.

Don't those knives usually run around $60? I don't consider that a good value. Good value is, for me, a knife that under $40 and is a good performer.

Most of those are less than 60.00 except for maybe the Endura and an S30V Native can be had at Wally World for just a tad over 40.00.

After looking found a NIB Endura 4 for 42.74 delivered on the Bay, although it's fully serrated.

I'm gonna have to disagree with that one. Value isn't so much about low price, as it is a good ratio of cost versus worth. If there is a knife that sells for $100 that is in every way comparable and equivalent to another knife (or group of knives) that all cost $500 each, then it becomes a great value, even though it's not inexpensive.

Which isn't to say that there aren't a lot of great values for under $40 that will perform wonderfully, though. The majority of my knives fall into the under $50 range, and I love the great values that are available there (many of which have been listed here).

I'll throw out another couple that I love, the A.G. Russel 2.5 Titanium Lockback and the A.G. Russel Ultimate Pen knife.

The lockback has a 1 7/8" locking blade in VG-10, with a titanium handle for $25. The Pen Knife has a 1 1/2" non-locking blade in VG-10 with titanium handle for $20. Great fit and finish, and a great value. Both are really thin and can fit in any pocket almost unnoticed. I almost always have one or the other tucked into a pocket, just in case.

I just got my Spyderco Tenacious PE and this has to be the best value ever! It puts my Native to shame, and I paid more for my Native. The only thing the Tenacious lacks is a super steel, but I'm sure the steel used in the Tenacious will be fine, as Spyderco wouldn't put out a knife with junk steel.

$32 I have a great blade, dual steel liners, great G-10, 4 position pocket clip, wonderful looking SS pocket clip. This knife is amazing! If someone handed it to me and had me guess the price, I'd have to say $80-90 at least.

I'd love to see Spyderco offer sprint runs with different steels, maybe different colored G-10. This is a great knife for the money! I'm not a big fan of liner locks, but this liner feels solid, and for $32 I'm not going to complain about the liner lock considering everything else you get with this knife. Spyderco really out did themselves with the Tenacious for the price they are offering it!

The Byrd line by Spyderco are a steal for the price and quality you get. Like everyone else, you still can't beat the Buck 110, and the frame lock Kershaw's are a great value as well.
