Best value knives of ALL time

I have collected hundreds of knives over the past 45 years from high end customs to cheap China's but hands down the best knife ever for me is the Mercator K55K! German made since 1867 in Solingen. Sharp as a wizards mind and as of today costs $23.95. I've carried one for 30 years and it has never failed to amaze me!

Second would have to be the Japanese Higonokami priced at $19.95. You can't go wrong with this one either!
PS- if you buy one of these get the high carbon steel and not the Stainless. (of course)

Can't forget some Ganzo's like the G704 and G710. Clones or not, they're great for the money at around $20, and even better if you can win them in an auction. I think I got mine for $12 and $13-something. Both feel like much more expensive knives.

How has the Ontario Utilitac 2 not been mentioned... beast knife for 26 bucks

smaller quick a/o Kershaw scallion is a favorite of mine, black on black

every knife owner should have opinels all under 15 bucks

honestly I think the paramilitary 2 is incredible for the price..

buck 110/55 = favorite all time

The problem with the Opinel is that it doesn't fit into the pocket like the slim Mercator or the Higonokami and others. I never got comfortable with it even though the blade was exceptional!

I have the #6 my friend and I just rounded(sanded) the top of the handle butt and put a cool mustard patina on it.. super light super lockup super super sharp.. disappears in my pocket :)

slices up apples realllly nice

That's awesome bro!
However there is no need to do any modifications in any way to the venerable Mercator! :

One very tough knife out there is the Mora Robust. I picked up mine for less than $15 and have been amazed at the quality of this knife. In the past I have used the Mora 2000 as my fishing blade, but this Robust is going on the boat with me next time. The knife is light and strong...and if it falls into the sea then I won't shed a tear. Imagine my Randall gracing the murky bottom of a dark, oxygen poor sea bed. No way!

Then you have the Opinel. What more can I add? Takes a marvelous edge and is so easy to sharpen with a crock stick. You can spend a bunch more of your hard earned cash and not get a folder that will cut any better that this neat, French offering.

The best value I've seen in a long time is still a RAT-2 folder. Maybe I just got a good one.

Svord Farmers for rabbitting.
Svord Gen Purpose, Curved Skinner & Sticker/Skinner/Boner for pigging & deerring.

If the price range has been officially raised from $50 to $70 I want to nominate the Ontario Rat line of fixed knives, several can be bought for under $70 by careful shopping.
