Best work around the house/yard folder for under $100

Buck Spitfire, appears they've tightened it up now and for the price it'd be legend if it hadn't been messed up when it first came out.

Recently saw the Kilimanjaro Gear DW folder .

Now I can't speak 1st hand on the knife, but I was pleased with the cheap made in China models I owned as work beaters in the past.

That said there is a video on their website; this one is made in Taiwan instead of China, is a flipper, is made with Japanese AUS-10 steel and micarta handles, and is a Daniel Winkler design.
BladeHQ has them for $70 and it has definitely found it's way high on my to-do list. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Ontario Rat 1. $28-30 with AUS steel, solid design, larger size than the much renowned edc rat 2.

edit: you can buy 3 for $100 btw. place strategically around the house / garage and never be very far away from a good knife

I think the Spyderco Endura fills this niche quite nicely. To me, the Endura is a tad large for EDC carry and I choose the Delica sized knives for regular carry as well as SAKs (mostly the larger ones).

My "yard knife" is the Condor Bushlore (fixed blade). It is also my work knife for rougher tasks that I wouldn't use a folder for except in an emergency. I have two Bushlores (original model and current model). The price keeps going up, but I think it fills the yard work roll quite nicely. Inside the house, I mostly use a SAK or one of my many knives that I have lying around in my office.

I mostly use a K-Bar Dozier, but also use my large Case stockman. The stockman may be a tad on the large size so sometimes carry it in a belt sheath.

Kershaw Link in M390

Spyderco Tenacious
Great price for that one.

+1 on the M390 Link, this is one hell of a knife. Very well built, locks up solid, flips open smoothly, and that M390 is a great all around steel. All for under $80. To me it is right up there with the ZT 0770.

I would a Spyderco.
My personal choice has been a Delica 4 for this, but if you need something bigger an Endura will do the job.
If you need a slicer go for the FFG, if you need something stronger go for the saber grind.

For big jobs , use a big folder and be 2 or 3 times as efficient . XL Cold Steel Voyager for best value big work knife . You're welcome !

Note on the Salt series (and H1 in general): get it fully serrated. Plain edge H1 is on the poor side regarding edge holding. Great tradeoff for diving or working on a boat (I keep a SE Pacific in my drysuit pocket), but not for every day use.

Just so you know what my range for comparison is. I have a lot of knives, from $60 Kershaw Knockouts up to multiple CRKs and a Shirogorov 111. The most versatile knives I own, are PM2's. I'm not saying they are perfect. I'm saying they are second only to my Multitools in versatility.

If you want the best versatility, get a Multitool. If you want the most versatile knife, in my opinion, get a PM2.

I used one to slice hard cooked eggs and hotdogs this morning and then I scraped somebodies hard nasty gum off one of my shoes a little bit ago. I won't be slicing food with it for a while. I'm just sayin.

I would take a GEC Sodbuster in Micarta and O1.

If you can find a Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1 or 2 used somewhere for less than 100$ that would be the ultimate work folder for under price.

Have to second/third/etc. the Rat1 suggestions. Great knife for the price. Would be a good knife for twice the price. I also have the ESEE Avispa; it’s a great slicer, but the TU pocket clip placement is just belly laugh, what the actual [expurgated] weren’t you people thinking when you did that? It is a magnificent failure. Still a nice knife, but even without the pocket clip pressing on the lock bar, it is an absolute pig to disengage. I still like it, though, because I am an absolute pig.

Geez, that is quite an endorsement. Just ordered a Link, really looking forward to trying it after hearing all the great feedback recently in the forum.
