Bevel Experimentation. . . .

We have been experimenting with different bevel geometries over the past 6 months and are starting to get some very cool results. . . .

Stay tuned!

I knew there was a hidden folder message in there somewhere! ;) So we can expect to see the Busse Folder in 6 months. :foot:

Holy cow a full scandi grind Busse folder?

I'm releasing this on google news right now.

I can't believe they'll be shipping by January either.

I think a ASM ground Nuclear Zilla with the baton spacing on the spine and flat ground like the one I have weighing in at 30 oz's would be a worthwhile "experiment" .... let me know when it's done and "i'll take it" ....:cool:

Given we don't have a folder OR a muk, the new bevel will be debuted at Jerry's retirement in 2025.

In order for him to retire, he will have to come out with a big seller like the FOLDER!

I don't get it about folders! The whole deal about Busse is tough to the point of practical indestructibility. No folder of any design is anything like that. I have several hundred folders including some of the best ever made, none are as tough as even the little SAR3 because of that hinge. All folders have that weakness. Weakness of any sort and Busse just don't seem right.

On topic content:
I think that a 25 degree final bevel on a thin convex would be a very good cutting edge for an everyday use knife but a 30 degree on a fat convex might be better for the heavy choppers. I wonder how those edges held up to your testing?

What I don't get is why some people think a FOLDER needs to be as indestructible as a fixed blade. To most (including me), it is a different tool that is much more convenient to carry everyday. In my everyday uses of the folders I carry I don't come close to "testing the limits" of the hinge design.

That's easy, because nobody expects anything less then indestructible with a name like Busse! It's like everyone expects anything Ferrari to make to go fast... We expect indestructible with the fixed blades and so why not with the folder and I think that's why it's taking some time. They are going to make sure it's not only going to function well but as close to indestructible as it can be cause we have all seen on the internet what these people do with these knives...

Couldn't have said it better myself.:cool:

I don't have a problem with Busse taking the time to make the best folder they can, my concern was with Bob2670 saying "Weakness of any sort and Busse just don't seem right" is that he seems to think Busse shouldn't make a folder at all. I realize Busse has a image to uphold, but that doesn't mean they can't make a great folder! Many other companies make great fixed blade knives and folders.

Now, back on topic, Jerry, we need more information on the Bevel experiments so we don't get bored and go off topic again!!!!
