Keep your eye on the beer.

Thanks Jack. I had fun, but quickly switched to a Mora Classic after putting a couple of tiny chips into the very acute edge I put on the pen blade. That little chunk of ebony proved to be hard stuff. Oh well, it'll be easily repaired with no real harm done and I learned something along the way. :)

I like that photo of your Ancient, BTW.

My Lambsfoot and I put in some more work in the garden today and now we're taking a break:

Good stuff Greg, and thanks :) Always a treat to see your Lambsfoot, and I imagine that Founders Porter is delicious, I don't think I've tried a single beer of theirs I didn't love :)

From Scotland with love :pView attachment 767136

Cheers JP, my fridge sees a lot of that stuff - mainly because my local supermarket stocks it :) Nice-looking knife too

I haven't tasted it yet, but it smells like apples.
Quite a favorite of our founding fathers, according to the label.

I have tasted it now. Our founding fathers must have been pretty tough.
There's a cult movie of the 60s where mobsters are in a kitchen and try and drink the same kind of (moonshine) potion. And two phrases everybody knows by heart since :
- Some apple in it? -Yes, there's some!
and
- I knew a Polish girl who used to drink it for breakfast.
:D:rolleyes:

Thanks, my friend. Founders Porter is indeed a first-rate example of the style. I hope you'll have an opportunity to try it for yourself some day.

If I recall correctly, you're not a fan of gin, but I find that a good Gin & Tonic pairs quite nicely with a Lambsfoot. ;)

Thanks a lot Greg :) I think I was in short trousers when I decided I didn't care for gin too much, so it's a completely unreasonable prejudice! :D It's having a renaissance here at the moment, particularly in Leeds, where I live. Someone got me to taste a Sheffield gin a few months back, and I didn't find that too bad, but mainly because it didn't taste much like gin! :D A very civilised accompaniment to your fine Lambsfoot my friend :)

Here's me in Sheffield yesterday (I knew that if I'd have had a lunchtime pint, I'd have probably fallen asleep on the train and ended up in Newcastle!)

Jack, I'm not going to lie, I think that Dandelion & Burdock beverage might have been the most confusing thing I saw in the supermarket when we were visiting England. I'd never heard of such a thing! :D

Had to do little regrinding so the blade is all clean now... kinda annoying in that sense. :D
Finnish Koff Porter (strong very toasty porter) today with one of my favourite autumn/winter beers from Germany aecht schlenkerla rauchbier märzen (dark smoke beer).

Dark Smoke Beer sounds delicious! I will have to remember that one
