Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

A pint of 'Red Dragon' an amber bitter of 4.5% brewed by Great Orme brewery in Wales. Sadly it was quite disgusting....

That's too bad David:thumbsdown: My Son's took me out to a local brewpub where the eldest lives. Dang, I guess I'm old school because I didn't like any of there fancy beers/ IPA's. I mean at least have one domestic beer on hand for the uncouth like me. :D

My uncle is visiting this week, and yesterday we made it over to Surly Brewing Co. in Minneapolis. (We went/tried to go several months back when I was hosting Pearl, but we made the mistake of going on a Saturday evening; the wait for a table was 2 hours and there was a line around the entire (very large) beer hall just to get a beer at the bar. Wednesday afternoon was a lot less busy.)

Longbottom Leaf Brown Ale (5.0%)

Angry Nap Juicy IPA (8.0%)

Both were very good.

(Sorry for the poor quality of the knife-parts of the photos.)

lol I have a friend that's uncouth :thumbsup::thumbsup::p
Too many bars nowadays carry nothing but "craft beers" and IPAs, and neglect the old standards. And of course, they charge a lot--maybe $8 a glass. Stumbled across "the oldest bar in San Marcos" (Texas), when I heard a grito from inside the bar, and someone said "Come on in!" Didn't want to be rude. Had several ice cold pints of Budweiser for $2 a pop!

I know what you mean. Love the old standards: Paulaner (1634), Guinness (1759), Bass (1777)... Those young pups like Anheiser Busch (1852) need to learn their place! :D :D ;)

Seriously though, fortunately there is a huge variety of beers these days so there’s hopefully something for everyone who chooses to partake.

You got that right, my friend. I suppose in time, there will be a melting down of some of the many startups and a return to carrying some of the ole standbys.

Your right Greg, as mentioned we still need to carry a couple of the ole standbys for the ole time regulars as well. :D

Yup. My comments were meant in good fun and I hope they’re taken that way. If I owned a bar, I’d try to stock it in a way that made everyone feel welcome and comfortable, including interesting non-alcoholic drinks.

It’s almost the weekend folks. Have a great Friday tomorrow!

Love those three beers you named. Had some Guinness this last week (cheaper to get by the six-pack at the store than in a bar). In fact, my wife is making me a Guinness cake (birthday!) Saturday with Bailey's icing! Should I have some Jameson's with it? Irish car bomb of sorts.

My aunt finally went to Europe, even thought they still hadn't built a bridge. She came back complaining about the price of Budweiser in Holland.

:D

Thanks Jack, I hope you enjoyed the ginger beer, or at least the thought of it.

Top o’ the Mora, everyone. ;) :D

My memory is so bad Greg, that I immediately forgot about it again, it's still in the fridge! :D Looks like you mean business there my friend :)

Nice toothpick GT (Imperial?) But what really stands out is the carving. So utterly simple yet the observer knows instantly what it is. Very nice.View attachment 1001891

Beautiful knife (and a very tasty beer)

I'm just chewing my way through this robust 8.5 IPA. Have a great weekend folks
