Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Belated Birthday Greetings, Prester John Prester John !:thumbsup::cool::)
The baseball tinker looks GREAT, and that Scottish Ale looks quite tasty, too!:thumbsup::cool:
I know that I REALLY enjoy Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale from Founders (Grand Rapids MI) and Loch Down Scotch Ale from Arcadia (Kalamazoo MI). How, if at all, does Scottish Ale differ from Scotch Ale?

- GT
Thanks! But it's not belated--today is my birthday.

Happy birthday @Prestor John! The SAK May have to become a good luck charm if the Yankees sweep.
Unfortunately, the Yankees lost 3-1 to the Red Sox. Astros and Red Sox play game one of the American League Championship Series tonight. Winner plays either Brewers or Dodgers in the World Series. Maybe I should root for the Brewers because of their name!

5K Qs 5K Qs , it appears that Scotch Ale is "meatier" than Scottish Ale, and also has a higher alcohol content. Now I have to get some. Thanks!

Come on over, John, these are already cold and they are definitely "meaty!"

Shows you how close I’ve been following!

The Vienna Lager was on sale so why not? The GEC #48 was not. :( Very light and mild.

Since Vienna Lager is a local Virginia brew, my local watering hole has it on tap with a rotation of other Devil's Backbon e grews. My go-to there is Bells Two Hearted.

Stuart, that Winchester toothpick is a thriller!:cool::confused:

Thanks, GT. Your yella fella s pretty sweet, too.

One of my go to all time old school beers!

Dang straight.

As for me, the week is done, I’m in for the night, and feeling a bit Old Fashioned.

Now, that's the ticket!

You Americans discovered a marvel when you stumbled upon Bourbon:cool: I don't like ANY kind of Vodka/Koskenkorva the national spirit here, dislike Scotch & Irish Whisky, but your Whiskey is a different matter:cool: But so is English Gin, Cognac, Armagnac, Calvados and some Brandy from Greece and Germany :D Then there's wines and beers but that is a truly massive garden of delights

Will, jump across the pond and we'll bourbon you right up. Here, Bulleit boubon is $44.00 USD for 1.75L.

I'm a bit more pedestrian this evening.

Had a couple of these last night. Delicious ale. Tried to post a photo from my phone, but file was too large. Also breaking in my new baseball SAK as I celebrate my 39th birthday for the 19th time.
Since the Yankees bombed (pun intended), Go 'Stros!

Happy Birthday! That SAK makes a great companion for postseason ball.

Belhaven is a favorite of mine. Every year in June there’s the Highland games in Itasca, IL. Drinking one of those while watching the caber toss competition is a joy. :)

Thanks! October is great. Not only my anniversary and birthday, but weather cools down, and we have playoff baseball and lots of great college football! Watch some Premier League soccer/football/futbol too! And Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner!

Many more my friend. :D

Greg & Jack, does your stovetop popcorn involve just a normal covered pan/pot and lots of manual shaking thereof (I had a college roommate who popped a LOT of corn this way), or do you have a dedicated popcorn popping pan with a crank handle on the cover to stir the popping corn (that's how my Dad popped corn when I was a lad)?

- GT

The former for me, GT. Incidentally, I learned how to make it that way from a college roommate. :)

Edit: actually, I now remember making it that way occasionally in high school. But, I did have a college roommate who prompted me to start making it again that way and I haven’t turned back.

Like Greg, I use the first method GT, it's the only way I've ever made popcorn :) Been a while since I made it actually

A belated Happy Birthday PJ, and many happy returns to you my friend :)

The 44th Sheffield Beer Festival yesterday.
This would of been a half of Acorn Brewery's Old Moor Porter. 4.4%.

-David.

Great pics David :) I haven't been for years, back in the 80's, when it used to be at the Students' Union on Western Bank, it was crazy, packed out, with no room to move, let alone get to the bar, collapsed drunks all over the floors, fights breaking out! That looks like a much more convivial and pleasant environment, and a better venue of course :) Hope you had a great time

Gonna have to do some research and get back to you. Maybe Jack Black Jack Black or @donn know the answer to that.

I'm glad you were able to answer that my friend, I had no idea! :D

Nice lucky dip! :)
