Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

I bought some Founder's Pure Gold lager yesterday because the Adams Octoberfest is gone. About as gold as what goes forth after you've drunk it.
That is, I don't like it much. Very sour on the back of the tongue.
Pic to come. I must "arise and fight, like the fire that consumes all before it."
That is, I have snow to relocate.
A little drama never hurt anybody.

Happy belated birthday, Jolipapa Jolipapa !

I am enjoying a beautiful, crispy cool evening. I am rather fond of box pressed cigars and this Macanudo is excellent. Pairs nicely with the Islay.

Nice photo, as always, Dylan! I could go for a nice box-pressed cigar right about now (my favorite is the CAO L'anniversaire Maduro), but the high today was 20°, and for some silly reason my wife doesn't like for me to smoke cigars in the house! :D

Anyone seen this?

They put the freshly poured glass of beer in this machine and it can create images in the froth!!!....even your face...what will they think of next.?

That's kinda cool, but it also seems like an unnecessary delay in getting the beer from the tap to your mouth.

I've not yet found a whisky I didn't like, but I definitely favour the Islay malts, just wish they'd stop messing about blending them, as they have in recent years

I saw an Islay blend a while back called The Peat Monster. I was intrigued by the name, but if I recall correctly, the price was double that of Laphroaig, so I passed.

Speyside for me tonight, along with a surprise gift from @paulhilborn that showed up in the mail today. (I'll have to get better pictures tomorrow... thanks again, Paul!)

I've seen it Barrett, but not tried it. I certainly wouldn't pay more than the price of good traditional Scottish malt for it. I don't like the way they're messing around with whisky to appeal to fashions. If the Islay malts had enough peat for generations of old Scots, that's good enough for me, and I want to know if it's 10 years old, 12 years old, 15 years old, or whatever, not given a fancy box, with some cod-historic drivel written by an ad man on the side, and a New Age name  That's a nice gift from Paul, he's generous as the day is long (even more at the moment in fact!) :)

+1  Further, I share Barrett's taste for Spey. If I recall correctly, you once posted a picture of an Abunadh batch of which I had also a bottle (and enjoyed). My daughter often gives me a bottle of Cardhu.
Islay has too much peat and smoke for my taste (but that's just me).

That really was an excellent drop wasn't it JP? :) I drink a fair bit of Talisker, and Highland Park, but the latter does slip down a little too easily for me :D I usually have half a dozen different bottles on the go at once, and get through them slowly

Oh yes it was, I have fond memories of it. Even at around 60° it went like le petit Jésus en culotte de velours! :D

I also have always a few bottles in the cabinet and like to rotate. But I am more rum than whisky / bourbon.

Hear, hear!
I'm happiest when my wife or sons give me the plain old 10-year-old Laphroaig. Don't mind trying the others. Some have been very interesting. But "the old is better."

Mine was a birthday gift, a very generous one I thought :) I used to go in a bar that had it, but long, long gone I'm afraid :(

I am also very fond of rum JP, though I mainly drink it when I am out, rather than at home, for some reason. A couple of years ago I was having a coffee in a cafe I used to frequent, when a lady who was a rep for Whyte & MacKays started up a conversation with a couple of us regulars sitting at the bar. She opened up a small suitcase, and proceeded to ply us with a series of nice old rums, and a couple of reasonable malts too. A couple of hours later, she toddled off with her suitcase, leaving us half sozzled! Nice job :D

It's nice to always have a secure stash of your favourite ;)

LOL! We were less lucky when our minister of interior was a former Ricard rep (rip). He was a true mobster!
