During my Air Force career, I was stationed near Las Vegas for 3.5 years. While I had been to many hockey games prior to this, my wife had never seen one live. The LA kings played an exhibition game in Las Vegas every year and I took her to 2 of them. She was hooked. My next duty station was in Virginia and we became Capitals fans.

We had a minor league hockey team in our city a few years ago. [The team is still here, but it's not professional anymore; it's affiliated with a different league now for younger players. I think they call it a "developmental league."]
My wife's niece had some free tickets and my wife asked if I wanted to go, thinking I'd say "no." However, I was curious, so I said "yes."

When we were seated before the game, I looked around me and immediately noticed that the crowd was very different than a baseball crowd. I even told my wife that this would be the last game, because I did not expect to like it.

During the game, the crowd shouted things like "Ref, you suck!" in unison. I had never experienced anything quite like it.

By the end of the game, I fell in love with it, and have been to many more games. I love the fights, too. And the Zamboni! Still looking forward to Spring Training, though, but I will watch a few hockey games this winter. And during the playoffs.

That looks and sounds amazing! I love mezcal; I just wish there were more than 4 or 5 available to me in my area. Beautiful Shrade Walden!
