Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

I had a chance a day ago to harvest some Honey Mushrooms in my front yard (with a Wright lambsfoot via Jack Black Jack Black ) and make a rustic soup. The Founders Brewing porter was a fine addition to the meal.

Nice to see that lovely ensemble again Stuart :)

I tried a new concoction tonight. Gin + dry vermouth + olive = Martini. Same mixture with cocktail onion = Gibson. Same mixture with pickled hot cherry pepper = pretty dang good!

Turkey Boy looked askance at my assemblage.

Very cool pics

Our Meyer Lemon tree has a strong crop this year and they are just starting to be ready to harvest. Figured I’d use one to fancy up some high quality H2O.

Excellent composition Greg :)

Is that a 12-year-old?

I doubt it Vince :( It's one of those irritating new blends the distilleries are pouring onto the market due to demand exceeding supply. It's OK, but I prefer the Talisker I used to buy for around the same price

They are messing around with my Highland Park too, but at least they still state the age  I picked up another bottle on discount today, together with a bottle of Bushmills Malt, which I haven't drank in a while :)

Think I'll pass. ;).
I'll stick with 10-year-old Laphroaig. Or Cragganmore, Glenmorangie, Oban, Lagavulin, The Dalmore, MacCallan, regular Talisker, etc. Never tried Highland Park.

Don't want to try a Scotch that doesn't state the age. My non-drinking son gave me a bottle of bottom-shelf scotch that was downright NASTY! I could tell it was bad when it was still several inches from my face!

Expect to see more of it :( Highland Park regularly seems to get marked down here, and is a bargain in my opinion, if a little easy to drink. Well worth checking out

Remember, it ain't 1984 any more! Most single malts change from year to year, and most have gone way up in price. If they haven't, then they've cheapened the process. Caol Ila 12 used to be my standard brand, with a splurge now and then to Lagavulin 16. Both have gone up at least 20% in the last 2-3 years.

Hey, how's the Samuel Adams Winter Lager, Vince? I didn't realize it was a Bock-style brew; looks pretty good from a distance! ;):thumbsup::cool:

Very good. Flavoured with orange peel, cinnamon, and ginger, if I remember correctly. I like most of Sam Adams' fall and winter seasonals. Their Oktoberfest beer is one of my favorites.
