Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Now you're talkin', Taylor! ;):cool: I bought a 12-pack of that Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest a week ago.

As for German versions, I tried several a year ago. If you search this thread for "Oktoberfest", posted by 5K Qs, newer than September 1, 2019, you'll find a bunch of my posts with opinions on various Oktoberfest beers, including several German imports (mostly the ones Barrett mentioned in a recent post). Here's a post in which I stated that I actually enjoyed almost all of the American Oktoberfest brews more than all of the German ones (but almost any Oktoberfest is good):

I think that’s a good assessment, GT. While I don’t think I’ve had a German Oktoberfest/Märzen that I disliked, I have had some American versions that were, in my opinion, better.

I posted this photo a few weeks ago, but this one from AleSmith is the only Oktoberfest I’ve had so far this year (and it was actually something I had left in the fridge from last year). It’s a good one.

Thank you, Bill, for the kind words. I'm humbled and pleased that folks enjoy some of what I am able to contribute here - I do have a lot of fun with it.

A big 'un with a dark duo this evening.

Barrett, maybe you and I just like our Oktoberfest beers traditional, and the German brewers have apparently changed their "formula" recently, while American brewers have stuck with the older style. At least, that's what this site suggests:
https://www.beerwulf.com/en-gb/articles-about-craft-beer/facts-about-oktoberfest-beer
Here's a relevant quote from that site:
Oktoberfest beers can be quite hard to classify, but they are mostly lagers. However this can vary greatly. The beer has has changed greatly since the 1800s. The original Oktoberfest beer is a malted stock with about 6% alcohol. Today, Oktoberfest beer is slightly more golden than Helles but brewed with a stronger alcohol content. They no longer brew the amber brews made with Munich Malt we see in America. Many of the "Oktoberfest" beers intended to replicate actual Oktoberfest beers are based an older styles. Hence, many “Oktoberfest” beers are nothing like the real deal, served at the real Oktoberfest. There are only six breweries that brew pure Oktoberfest beer.
