Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Oh man that’ll make any former St. Louisian’s day! That’s so funny! 🤣🤣🤣
Right, now I don’t have to take you up on your offer.
Many a sunny evening spent in Germany supping on that, lovely brew! Reinheitsgebot rules! :)
Beautiful whittler too!
No doubt it’s the best Octoberfest beer I’ve found to date. All of HB’s brews are good that I have had.

Dipping into this single barrel rye. A bit harsh but there’s some good stuff there if you have the patience to work it out.

I had a similar experience with one of their bourbons, Dylan. It was a bottle I’d had for a few years, and finally opened as part of my DIY whisk(e)y advent calendar last Christmas. As a proud Arkansan (born in Little Rock, where their distillery is located), I really wanted to like it. And it’s not that I didn’t like it, exactly, but it was a bit odd. I believe “funky” was one of the words I used to describe it back in December.

About a month ago, I posted that I had drunk a Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest with supper on a Friday night, but I used an old photo. Here's a couple of photos of a bottle from my current 6-pack. "We call it Heaven in Bavaria, you call it Hacker-Pschorr." 😁

Thanks for the recommendation. I don't think I've ever had that Oktoberfest, but my daughter once brought me a bottle of this beer that I thought was very good. Same brewery you're thinking of?

Yup, that’s the brewery. I don’t think they make a bad beer to be honest. Dunkel is a definite favorite of mine. I hadn’t had their octoberfest until this last week. Pick it up if you happen to see it. You won’t be disappointed.

Check out the name of this one ...Good Grief ...if this is what passes for humour in the Australian Capital Territory were doooomed...
Actually it tastes more like cider and vinegar...not the best for the price....
Cheers.

Celebrating my oldest daughter’s 25th with a bottle of 7 Still’s Slo Flo that she gave me for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. Whiskey distilled from their own lager. Sitting around the fire pit sipping away.View attachment 1648688
Very cool, sounds like a great evening.
I know basically nothing about brewing and distilling, but I’ve wondered why there aren’t more distilleries brewing beer also, and why more breweries aren’t distilling whiskey as well. Seems like they would go hand in hand. 🤷‍♂️

5K Qs 5K Qs thanks for the inspiration to grab a 6 pack of the Oktoberfestbier
You're welcome. 🤓
I hope you and your Cardinals have a very festive October!:cool::thumbsup:

This was my Oktoberfestbier last night. Obviously, old photo from 3 years ago - my current Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest comes in cans, and, interestingly, the packaging makes no mention of a partnership with Weihenstephan from Bavaria.
