Disaster averted
I was in the garage on Monday, getting something from under a table. I knocked the table well the legs folded in on 1 side. On that side happened to be 3 expensive bottles of spirits the wife bought for Christmas. It was like slow motion as I watched them slide towards the edge. I made it to 2 the third hit the floor & explodedglass & vodka everywhere...
It was an expensive bottle as a gift....to me![]()

how is that Glenrothes? I haven't tried a new scotch in a while... and as I recall, most of the Speysides I've tried have been pretty tasty...

Yes.... the Islay's do come on pretty strong sometimes. I've had the 10yr Ardbeg, and the Uigeadail... I like them, but not as an every day snort... The Caol Ila is probably my favorite Islay... very smooth. I've tried several of them, and to me, it's the smoothest I've had from that area.... (island?)this is a very nice introductory scotch to me, the notes are nice and easy to identify and a few drams doesn't burn the palate to much. highly recommended, and wont set you back too much. Had an ardbeg a while back and boy that was a bit over powering.

Think I'll ask for a Glenrothes for Christmas... the grown kids wanted to know what I wanted, so this might just be the ticket....
Lagavulin 16 is pretty special.... although it's a little bit medicinal tasting.... don't know how else to describe it.. it's odd, but when I'm about to sip, and get the aroma of it, it reminds me of a freshly unwrapped band-aid....sort of an astringent type of smell.... a little odd, but it's a very nice whiskey..wont break the bank either! was suppose to open a lagavulin 16 next after the ardbeg but was browsing at the shop and the glenrothes caught my eye. but bourbons on deck soon
