Docbart agreed to buy a knife that I had posted here, and emailed that he had sent the money order to me. Since I was sending out another knife that day, I sent that one out to him - over night USPS - without waiting for his MO to arrive. He got the knife, but no money order came. After a week, I emailed him about it. He blamed a "new girl in the office" but said it was on its way by Priority mail, and should arrive by the following Wednesday. Still no MO, and no reply to emails on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Finally, after mentioning this forum to him, he sent back an email saying he didn't like the knife and he was returning it, along with money to cover the cost of my shipping. The knife did arrive back to me, but no money was enclosed to cover my costs.

I've traded at least 19 or 20 knives on these forums without a problem with one before. I'm only out the cost of shipping, so it's not that big a deal, but I really regret that my trust in the folks that show up here has been damaged by this guy's callous disregard for the truth or for honoring his word. If you deal with Docbart, make sure you get your end first!

jbravo,

I know you are frustrated & I hope nothing too bad comes out of this. I have dealt with a high number of ppl off the forums (Including Docbart) & EVERY experience I have had has been GREAT! Makes me sad to see this type of thing happen...

After I posted the above, I received an obscenity-laced email from Docbart. Interestingly, he didn't deny any of it, just wanted to show a little more of his upstanding traits. Like I said, be wary of Docbart.

LOL...Docbart showing what a fine upstanding person he is? Ya know Doc, your trading days are numbered. Why cant people admit when the screwed up, and apologize? We here are a trusting bunch, and I think we all frown on getting shafted on a deal. You may want to rethink your attitude, it might be to late for you though. Naughty Naughty.

Thanks, both of you.

Coincidentally I too am having a situation developing w/ "DOCBART". I will give him a couple of days to send my refund for a knife I never got as well. If I do not get my money I will post the details and certain that his trading days on this and other forums is KAPUTT.
Thank you.

Knives4me, many fine transactions are made with trust and not the bottom line. People that trade here AND value their reputation follow through on their deals. Not a personal attack, but if you lurk here long enough then you will see that what I say is true (not to say that I've been here YEARS more than you).

Sorry and Suprised to see this. I had a trade with Docbart a couple of weeks ago. One of the best transactions I have had on the forums.

Jackyl-I hope you`re not implying that anyone not on your list is a risk to deal with. I couldn`t help noticing that I`m not on your list! I`ve had many deals with BF folks, as a buyer, trader and seller, and I`ve NEVER had a bad experience. I pay the shipping on the knives I sell, and will gladly buy back anything that I sell for ANY reason. So PLEASE don`t imply that people who aren`t on your list are a risk to deal with. That`s just not fair to alot of us who have been quietly dealing here for long time but just don`t happen to be on your list.

I concur Steve B.
Another of the silent minority here, I guess, that have not yet dealt with Mr Jackyl. Butt I have made some very satisfying trades and purchases here on the forums.

I do believe that Jackyl is kidding guys. Check out the winky at the end of the post. That generally implies that humor was intended.

Thanks Paul!!! Yes, the "winkey" was meant to take the extreme seriousness away from such an extreme post.

<---see, there it is again. If you're not on the list, no big deal, not like it's the OFFICIAL list of the ONLY people to deal with. In fact, I like dealing with other people, just so I CAN add them to the meaningless list. I'm not the only one who adds to that list, I think it has acquired almost 60 posts.

If you care to have your name on that MONSTER list, ask the person you dealed with to add it. I just posted the above to shamlessly plug the list.

I also am in the process of having a less than satisfactory experience in dealing with "docbart". He contacted me in regard to the Sampson Fighter I had for sale/trade. On the 15th we decided on a trade and agreed on what I felt was a simultanious transaction. I have done more than a few transactions here on the forums and to date all without a hitch. On the 16th my girlfreind went to the post office at lunch and they wouldnt accept the package I was sending because the box had writting on it. I was so upset that I would dishonor myself by not sticking to the agreement that I repackaged the knife that night and sent it the next day and paid the extra for two day shipping. I waited for the knife that was coming back to me in trade and wondered weather he had recieved the knife I sent. Finally on the night of the 23 I wrote to ask if he had recieved the knife. He wrote back on the 24 saying that he had sent it out.. on the morning of the 24th. Obviously I still havent recieved my knife. How long would it have taken had I not written ?!?! This is unacceptable. I was hessitant to trade with him only because according to his post number he had not been here long. We on the forums are in a funny spot. We are dealing with complete strangers. Not only shouldnt we do the improper but we should also guard against the semblance of impropriety. Do things happen that keep you from the post office?? Yup ! Are our lives way busy? Yes! Then the parties involved in the transaction should agree upon a ship date that is acceptable to both so that one person is not left holding a knife and the other is not. IF it was the unforseen that kept someone from shipping then the minimum protocol should be an email that says " hey I didnt make it to the post office today as agreed. I will definatly ship tommorrow" Why should I be left worrying about weather I got ripped off. Hope my knife shows up and is as described. Ill have to think twice about playing the trade game on the forums.

I recently did a knife trade with Docbart that went perfectly. He represented the knife he traded honestly and it arrived exactly in the condition indicated. Everything happened in a timely manner without incident. I was very satisfied.

I am sorry to hear this man,
What does Docbart have to say about this, lets get his opinion of the story???

I just completed a trade w/ DocBart and couldn't be more satisfied. We did experience some communication breakdown and the associated frustration but that's a long way from even the suggestion that this man is dishonest. Sarge's thread on this link is "right on" re the necessity for GOOD communications before, during and after the "deal". Flaming a new guy because of a screwup seems overkill to me unless you KNOW for sure that he INTENDED to screw you over.
