I think we would experience something similar to what occurred with the 2018 knife and the Elk covers - a lot of variety and opinions.

With Rams Horn, in my opinion, I haven't seen a bad piece yet - even if some examples turn out to be on the plain side. I have had light, dark, mixed, smooth, and/or textured in terms of examples and they have all been exquisite.

ETA: I surely hope Mike isn't done with Rams Horn - that would be a tragedy...
I think with the support shown he might consider it and then we might at least get texture vs smooth as an option while light vs dark vs mixed will probably be more a luck of the draw.

It's fun watching the Barlow and Swayback run neck-and-neck as time marches on. It'll be interesting to see which one shakes out on top.
Those were the two I voted for and I'd be happy to have either one.

If there is an obvious winner I can talk to the corresponding factory and gather details for future polls (if needed). Otherwise, things will need to become a bit more official to move forward than just me taking notes.

Disclaimer: We are not deciding that this is the way we go here. Just gathering information so that I can offer an option. So please don't get aggravated if this is not the direction you wish to go.

Based on some of the posts, I thought it might be worthwhile to revisit knifeswapper knifeswapper 's first post in the thread, especially the disclaimer. This is not a binding poll, so it's not worth getting too caught up in the horserace at this point...

I know a bunch of folks here already have lionSTEEL offerings but for those that don't, I just got my first sample from Mike. The Gitano. It has a clip so I haven't posted about it here but the fit and finish is awesome. The contouring makes for a great feel in the hand. Mine is in olive wood and the pictures don't do this wood enough justice. It's gorgeous and a quick very light wipe with mineral oil really enriched mine. It's a great contrast with the matte titanium. Great blade steel too.

I only offer that just because I know lots of folks don't see these as really "traditional" but maybe these things off set that and enhances the desire to have one.

I'm not committing yet as I have a couple other knives I'm also awaiting the release of and money is a little tighter around here these days so timing and the end product will guide me but if it the time is right I will definitely be on board.

Well all this forum knife has me excited, I missed last year's knife and that was a bummer. So I'm hoping to see the swayback win and go ahead and put me down for 2

The swinguard mock up is pretty sweet. I’m pretty lukewarm on the barlow, would much prefer the swayback. That said, I voted Bolus for the utilitarian angle and swinguard because why not it’s kind of out there and I like that.

Thanks for all the effort you put into the forum knife Mike.

I have had every variant of the Euro Barlow (with regards to blade shapes) pass through my hands and my favorites are the Shuffler and the Warhorse. I traded away my Shuffler to a buddy (see above ;)) and have not replaced it yet - mostly because I vastly prefer the Rams Horn on these knives and I haven't been able to find one since.

The Warhorse is an exceptional knife with a lot of cutting power packed into a nice tidy package. It's a no-nonsense knife and one that provides a worry and hassle free experience when working hard or hardly working - depending on one's interpretation... :D

I have a few versions of the Euro. I use the heck out of the first run. Ya know. The one that is a little thick behind the edge. The sharpening choil too. I think it's an awesome knife in stag. always get compliments.
