OK, now that we talked about purple knives, perhaps we should get back to our knife. This one is in mother of pearl. This will be my first Canittler and my first mammoth ivory. You guys did good in picking an interesting knife.

To me the canittler looks like a "Canoe Stockman", if there was ever such a thing. Does anyone know how the pattern got it's start and is it a American pattern? Is it based on the canoe or stockman pattern or entirely different basis?

Canoe and Whittler; hence the name. A standard Canoe has two spear blades, or rather a large spear and a smaller spear-shaped pen blade. The Canittler adds the coping blade as you might find on a Whittler. I do not know what the spring arrangement is on the Canittler - whether it uses a split backspring, a wedge, or what. The Canoe blades often share a spring, and Whittlers do it a variety of ways.

I recall reading on one of these forums that Frank Buster is the originator of the canittler. The Canal Street model uses a split spring arrangement.I REALLY like that MOP!

I agree, the Wolverine Knice Collectors Club 2007 knive is really nice. I picked one up for my son this summer as a HS graduation gift. He starts U Mich in a couple of weeks. Seemed like the right gift for a new wolverine.

BTW, great F & F, and Incredably sharp right out of the box.

Just curious, what was the price for the Wolverine Knife? That is a great gift for your Son. The knife I ordered is for ME....

Colog,

No word yet but I don't expect to see them until at least early October. It's generally a three month wait for these orders. I'll post here as soon as I hear anything.
