Wow!! Very beautiful!! Nice and unique!! I love it!!

Weighs about twice as much as my 13+ inch Busse SHe, and that's saying something if you've ever felt the weight of a SHe... you need a strong hand and arm to move it fast... real strong. That's why I sprayed on the Plasti Dip, for extra grip... you really need it. Without it she could easily go flying out of your hand, no matter how strong your grip is.

Just got my first big ass knife a week ago: a Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri Plus. Man, what an awesome piece of metal! I've wanted one ever since my best friend bought the Gurkha Kukri years ago and I watched him chop completely through a 1-1/2" thick live tree branch in one swipe. (I actually wanted the Gurkha Kukri, but everyone online was either out of stock or they were $20 more.)

Makes me feel like Crocodile Dundee: "This is a knife!" Sadly I can't carry it in public due to state laws, so it might go in my trunk. For brush clearing, y'know.

😋

What do you use your knives for?

I did post it earlier in the thread but I'll say it again in case you missed it. I mostly use big knives for processing wood for camp fires (notice the big pile of wood under the knives in the picture), delimbing larger branches or trees, light chopping, and some brush clearing. All other knife tasks I find a smaller blade in the 4-5" range works best. I'd like to think I could carry around my big knives every day like Rambo and have a use for them but I find there is little point. With the other edc gear I carry including a modern folder and a pistol a smaller fixed blade is all I need. If pressed into an emergency situation or survival fantasy, between my brain and my 4-5" fixed blade I'd be fine. Now when it comes to recreation and fun, you but those big fix blades are coming along!

It does look that way. I think the angle and that it is next to the TGLB makes the mind play tricks :)

Indeed. My mind is kind of a jerk to play a trick like that. I got all excited about the prospect of a ManDu variant with a blade 6"+ and no other changes. Thanks for the info, even if it crushed my dreams.... :D

Here's an older pic of my RMD LE with my JackManDu:

Key differences besides the 6" blade are the drop point profile, enlarged finger choil, and contoured scales. Despite the sweetness of the satin LE, the JMD gets most of the love since I got it.

Oh, there's a variant. :D

There's also a beefmandu or some such thing I think.

I have a JMD (which I like quite a lot) and the beefmandu is thicker stock. There's also that 6 incher with the double guard (RatManDeux?), but I'd prefer a single guard. What I was excited about was thinking there was a clip point RMD variant with no changes but an extra 1" of blade. Knife people can be so unreasonably picky sometimes. I'm no exception. :D As the great sage Mick Jagger put it, You can't always get what you want. Thanks for the great suggestions though.

Ha, I here ya. You got me thinking though. A stripped and satined JMD with a clip point mod and some scale liners would be next-level :D

With liners added hand-sanded scales might work too... Could have a new mission, especially if I can pick up another one at a good price.

My gold membership is only $30/year, yet this still manages to be one of the most expensive sites on the internet for me in part because of suggestions like this... :D
