Big blade haters

Big blades do come in handy occasionally - and when you need one, nothing else will do.

That said, 99% of cutting tasks are better suited to smaller blades.

I think Ron Hood put it best, "A big knife can do a small job, but a small knife cannot do a big job." That's why those of us who do carry large bladed knives.

Some tasks are better for a smaller blade. I'd rather use my BK-15 instead of my BK-9HH to skin a squirrel or rabbit. I'd much rather use the tip of an X-Acto knife to dig a splinter out of my finger than try that with my BK-5.

Big knives, small knives, they all have a place.

This is true and I agree, but my point is that you can still do it with your BK9HH! However You can not baton through fat logs or chop down a small tree with your BK15. You can do small jobs with a big knife but you can't do big jobs with a small knife! :p

I like big blades, but most of my chopping is in soft wood and I can get by with a 6-7 inch blade so I don't carry one very often.
