Big hands in search of big folder. Opinions appreciated.

Hello. New member here. Names Bill. Nice forum here.

I have a good collection of knives, but I have a larger hand and have been looking for new EDC. I always carried a S&W SWAT since 2000. Broke the blade about 2 months ago. Lasted longer than I thought considering I constantly used it. I carry a Leatherman Wave and a Sheffield folder (10$ sears special).

Time for something nice again though. I have been searching and reviewing all over the web. This place seems the best for info.
I have a couple ideas and just need a opinion.

Something with a full size handle to fit my hand.
pocket clip to carry without having to dig in my pocket.
Plain edge, not a fan of serrated at all
Not a fan of spyderco. Just don't like the look.

I like the Kershaw JYD2 comp (afraid to use such a nice looking piece though)

So sorry for the rant, but any help is cool with me. Thanks.

Moved to appropriate forum.

Hmm anything else you can say about what you want? The spartan has a pretty big handle, benchmade onslaught and bedlam have big handles, etc.

Benchmade 741 Onslaught is a monster folder in 154cm with everything your looking for, except it does have an ambidexterous (spelling?) thumb hole (famous on spydercos) along with the axis lock. I have one and i never use the thumb hole only the axis but since you said your dont like spydercos you may be on the fence about this one.

I've got to second Nternal, the Spyderco Military would be a good full size handle (and blade) though I'd recommend a Spyderco Endura over the Police model (IMOHO). But I guess that means nothing if they don't have the aesthetics your looking for. Me, they are the only knives I collect (though I do have others, i.e. benchmade, gerber etc.) Spyderco takes a measure of pride in there knives (especially in there steels) where it seems some other makers are more profit focused. Plus there customer service is bar-none. I'd say you owe it to yourself to check out the knives mentioned if you haven't already.
p.s. you might be interested in the soon to be released Spyderco Lum Tanto Folder C46 w/gray G10 scales. It has a bit of a different style to it.
p.s.s. otherwise if you want to go on the cheap check out a Benchmade 10600 Snipe

I'd say the Spyderco Manix 2. You can find it for around one hundred dollars. It fits like a glove, and I have relatively large hands. It is a great knife.

hossom retribution 1 - but thats probably too big
ontario rat 1 is an awesome big folder, thats very inexpensive and has great fit and finish. it comes in new colors now too.

Not sure what your price point is, but here are a few suggestions:

High Dollar - Crusader Forge FIFP ($600); Strider SmF, AR, GB ($500-$550); Hinderer XM-24 ($600-$1200)

Mid Range - Extrema Ratio RAO ($350), MPC ($325); Pohl Force Alpha 2 ($200)

Low Dollar - Cold Steel Rajah 2 ($90), Spartan ($60), Espada (depends on size); Zero Tolerance 0200 ($125), 0300 series ($225)

Prices are my best estimate for use in your planning.

I've owned most but not all of the knives on this list. There are many, many more out there to choose from. Cold Steel is best bang for buck for big folder with well respected tri-ad lock.

Anything in Zero Tolerance is well done.

I like Strider Knives as they are more available than Hinderers and Crusader Forge are.

Good luck - let us know what you decide on.

If you hang out here long enough you will probably have all of these pass thru your hands.

Well, larger handle you know.
plain edge
one handed open
3''+ blade length
folder with pocket clip (so I don't have to go digging)
Price is not a huge use. under 100 I guess
Hmm, idk what else.

As for a Spyderco. Its not price or quality. It look. Something about them just doesn't sit with me. Nothing against them.

I'd check out the Cold Steel line up and give serious consideration to the Zero Tolerance 0200 - it's a lot of knife for the price.

The Cold Steels are nice. LIe I said I have been looking around just haven't really found the one.
If I had the money I would buy them all and try them all out. lol

Not to be picky, but does anyone make a knife inside of the USA? (union man)

ZT 30x are pretty large and beefy. Any zero tolerance knife actually.
hinderer xm-18

welcome to the forums ;)

There's plenty of great usa stuff. Most of the major brands you find will make em in the good ole usa. Its the cheaper ones you will wanna stay from those blades are made in china under the american companies name in order to make cheap knives for people with low budgets

Zero tolerance and benchmade(mostly) are made in the usa.

The TOPS/BUCK CSAR-T is also USA made and is pretty big and heavy duty. I want one.

SOG Trident
Emerson (anything)
Buck Large Vantage
Kershaw Lahare (I thing thats how you spell it)
Kershaw Drone
Benchmade Onslaught
Boker Anso
Ontario Rat one
Ontario Retribution
That is all I can think of

Any Zero tolerance. The 0200 is a built like a tank. Same with the new 0561. The JYD II composite blade is a great hard-use folder as well-don't be afraid to get one and use it!
