Bigfoot - let's hear your true encounters

With all the hunters and their game cams- you would think someone would have a picture by now.

My tale is short and sweet. My family and and I were hiking on a well-traveled trail in Mohican State Park in Ohio (known for bigfoot sitings, by the way). Well, I wasn't thinking about bigfoots at all, but I have read about tree knocks, howls, and such. Anyway, we came to one of those short bridges that the parks put over creeks, about 10 feet long, and in my very best Gandolf impression, I brought down my walking stick while stating loudly, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" BOOM. BOOM. I hadn't done it twice, but there was a very loud wood-banging-wood sound just over the top of the little ridge to our right, and totally sounding like it was in answer to my stunt.
Yes, I did go up and take a look. I was looking for the smell they say these things make, or footprints. But, alas, nothing. Just a nice loud curious memory.

The only thing close to it happened about 15 years ago. I was hiking by myself in the Mokelumne Wilderness on a trail that sees very little use. About five miles from the trailhead (which was five miles on a dirt road from a gravel road that was five miles from pavement) I walked past a giant deadfall that consisted of a number of trees that had fallen together to form a giant structure of interlocking vertical and horizontal logs. As I went by, I was assaulted by an intense smell - it was as if someone had gotten a couple hundred stinky old dogs wet, and extracted the smell and concentrated it down. I didn't see or hear anything. Several hours later when I went by again on my way out there was no trace of the smell. And the wind had not shifted, the source of the smell was no longer there.

My incident with being followed happened on a camping trip. I had camped in this spot several times over the years, alone and with others. It was a spur of the moment decision to go that night and I left well after dark. I'd ran those hills in daylight and dark for over 20 years so I knew where I was going.

I had worked that day and combined with a 2 hour hike carrying about 60 pounds I was tired. I got a fire going and made something to eat and sat down and read for a little while. I got very sleepy and turned in around 2230 hrs and went right to sleep.

Around 0230 I awoke with the overwhelming feeling I was in mortal danger. There was no sound or smell and I couldn't see anything, but that feeling kept getting more intense by the second. I spent untold hours in the woods when I was younger and would on occasion get what I call "feelings" and I'd always stop and listen intently and on all but one it turned out to be people close by. The other time it was a dog.

Whatever was causing this was coming from the trail that I followed into the campsite. I watched and listened for several minutes and couldn't see anything. There was enough light that anything coming that way would've been silhouetted.
I was armed and had a Sig 220 .45 ACP pistol and an HK91A2, but they didn't alleviate the feeling of danger that had gotten so intense I was having difficulty breathing.

I sat there in my sleeping bag for quite a while with the rifle pointed down the trail until the feeling became so intense I knew I had to get out of there. I got my boots on and rolled up my sleeping bag and packed up and started out of the site in the opposite direction that I'd taken in. I knew exactly where I was and knew where I wanted to go and I started out of there doing the "Belfast twirl" every other step.

I kept thinking my mind could be playing tricks on me and then I began to hear footsteps following along with me. At first I wasn't sure as I was moving steadily and once I started hearing the footsteps I stopped and faced the direction they were coming from. When I stopped there were a couple of footfalls and then silence. I waited and listened and then started walking again. I walked a short distance and stopped and again there were a couple of footfalls and then silence.

I knew the trail I wanted to get to to start over the hill and get back home and it was a little less than a mile from where I had camped.
The stopping and starting continued all the way to the trail with the footsteps still following. I hit the trail and started uphill and after I got about a hundred yards up the hill the danger feeling just went away. It was very weird. One second I felt like I was in danger and the next it was gone. I stopped and listened and couldn't hear the footsteps anymore, but I kept checking behind me all the way home.

I don't know what was following me as I never saw a thing, but these were bipedal footsteps.

I've heard from other people of strange things happening in that general area.

I've got another story of a strange moan/howl I heard about 10 years after this incident. I may post it later.

A good friend of mine gets visibly shaken every time he tells us his story. I believe that most of the folks who tell of Bigfoot encounters are sincere but also believe that human senses are easily fooled. I have seen something that would constitute for many as a ghost and can still get the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up if I tell the story right. But I have to be intellectually honest with myself and not fall into the classic trap of labeling the unknown.

As it stands to date, there is simply not enough scientific evidence that Bigfoot exists.

Can't say what it is for sure, but there's something in the virginia mountains that I personally heard(not seen) eat a bobcat. There is absolutely no mistaking the scream of a bobcat, and when it goes on for 45 seconds straight and then cuts off short with a gurgly/choked stop....idk what to think but there was definite evidence the next morning. Have also heard stories from the same area of a hunter walking up on his kill (deer) to find it torn to pieces :o

British scientists did find some hairs in Asia that were attributed by the locals to be from Yeti.
These hairs were then sent to Britain where they were analyzed for DNA.
The DNA found was to be of an unknown species, it did not compare to anything else man has ever encountered.

Heres the link: http://rense.com/general11/yhet.htm

Scientifically though this is not considered conclusive proof ..... but it does make you question what unknown species this hair came from.

Western science thinks it knows everything about everything ... truth is that it doesn't.

Exactly.... that's all it can do.
Western science thinks it knows everything about everything ... truth is that it doesn't.
Respectfully, I really don't think you know how "Western" science works... or the fact that it is not just Western scientists who see the value in evidence, working models, peer review and repeatability.

Let's all just calm down.
This isn't the time or place, but...

I am bigfoot.

I thank the heavens every day for being able to find this beautiful place called BladeForums.
Without the knowledge I've learned here, I would never be able to live a civilized life.
Shaving was becoming a nightmare with the limited sharpening skills I had.
Now that I have the skills to reach HHT#5.1 and can purchase CPM-M4 blades, my life has vastly improved.

I would like to thank each and every one of your for sharing the knowledge that has kept me practically hairless for almost 20 years now.
Stay sharp, users of BladeForums.

I dont know if hair dna can be taken without a follicle anyway. So theres could be billions of of hair from domestic cats that are unidentified creature hair?

I had an ingrown toenail once, but the swelling was limited to the toe and didn't spread to the entire foot. Anyone else have an encounter with Bigtoe?
