Biggest Knife for EDC?

Hello,

The only time I carry anything under 3 inches is when Im in LA county. The rest of the time my normal EDC rotation is blades 3.5 inches and above and weight isn't really an issue for me. I dont find my ZT0300 too heavy if I have on jeans.

Have a good one,

Chris

I typically carry 3" to 3.75" with no real concern with weight.

Anything bigger than 3.75" is just unwieldy in my opinion. I'd likely never need a knife that size for anything unless I was camping, in which case I'd have a fixed blade and that would be a special occasion. Weight really isn't an issue for me either, unless it's like a pound or two, then that might be an issue, but otherwise I don't mind a heavier knife. My biggest knife right now is my Calavera Cutlery El Patron at 3.75", but I mostly carry a Large Sebenza.

A little over 4 inches is as big as i've gone which isn't a whole lot when you think about edc fixed blades.

I did edc my buck gen 2 skinner until I gave it away and bought my Cold Steel Scimatar, then I unfortunately lost that and bought a Spartan. best knife for the money I have ever had. Weight doesnt bother me as Im always wearing carhartts or levis. The knife weighs 9.5oz and is 10.5" long open with a 4.5" blade. I don't think I would go any bigger than that though. Dont want to scare away all the sheeple while cutting tags off the girlfriends new clothes =]

I prefer a bit of a larger blade for EDC, but smaller is generally alright too. I prefer the size of an endura or spyderco military, but a delica or paramilitary will do the job all the same.

I rotate between two fixed blades for EDC. BK11 spec'd at .15 pounds and 3.25" blade/6.75 OAL and a BHK Small Cascade which is a 2.5" blade/approx 6.5" OAL and I have no idea on the weight. In addition, I carry a Leatherman Wave listed at 12.5 oz shipping weight (leather belt pouch included).

The largest knife I EDC is the CRKT Polkowski/Kasper Companion fixed blade. It rides beautifully in a paracord shoulder rig, resting atop a hooded sweatshirt for padding and under a heavy winter coat. In the summer, I sometimes wear it horizontal carry when hiking.

I go all over the place on EDC blade length. Sometimes is a little Sog Flash I, other times its a old style CS Voyager XL, which is something like 5 - 5.5". For me the only real advantage of a longer blade for EDC - aside from the highly unlikely usage in self defense - is something like food management when away from home. Cutting a watermelon, lets say, when a bigger blade comes in handy. Otherwise, a small blade is enough.

Depends on the day the place and the need for the knife but the longest fixed I carry is my Rock salt in the summer to go to the sea.
Folder is the Cold Steel XL voyager tanto but although I love it is overkill were I live. So my carry lately is my ZT0560 and my
aweeeeesome mni tuff lite.

For general use the largest EDC is a fixed blade with 4" x 1.75" blade in S90V > weight isn't my concern I carry a lot of stuff in my pockets. But just being able to not look too odd...

EDC folders largest so far is the 710

LOL.. Ok so I will carry just about anything.

Largest I have carried is a military. 4 inch blade and carries very light. Now it is a large sebenza or PM2. Although the large sebenza is heavier (4.5oz) and has a longer blade, it carries a little better than the PM2. That is about as big as I need to go.

The largest one was Endura. It is flat and light so quite comfortable to carry. Advantages of a longer and havier blade for EDC are minimal from my personal point of view and can not justify the inconvinience of the size. I have got bigger havier knives of course. But I am lacking the motivation for carrying them every day.

I plan to get a ZT560 soon, but dont think I will carry it every day. will mostly tak it hunting. there's no better knife for EDC than my PM2 in M390, a good size knife with good pocketability, what more could you ask for in an EDC.

My PM2 is about as big as I feel comfortable carrying as I'm usually carrying in the middle of a city or suburbia. If I'm out with friends or at a wedding or party I usually feel better having my Mini Grip with me.

My biggest so far has been the BM 275 Adamas. Not big in terms of blade length, but definitely a chunky and heavy (almost 8 oz) blade.
