Bikers post here.

Nice bike man! I still ride bicycles every chance I get. I actually collect and build old school BMX and freestyle bikes. Right now I'm working on restoring a 1983 Mongoose Expert with my son. It's turning out to be one bad mammajamma!

This is good. :)

Thanks man! I really, sincerely appreciate it. My son and I worked very hard on it, and it is his pride and joy. He loves riding it around and loves to talk about it.
I like how you're breaking him into the hobby slowly;). Dirt bike in a few years:thumbup:?

Oh he's already had a couple dirt bikes! He's 15. He's a very cool kid.
I think he's an old soul because he absolutely looooves old school stuff. Music, bikes, technology, books, all kinds of stuff. He wants an old 750 metric that we can turn into a cool chop. Maybe a bobber. This WILL happen! Probably while he's 16.

^^^excellent! Great flick with a great soundtrack. I heard they used Dennis Hopper's own record collection for it, just because he liked the songs.
I always liked when "if 6 was 9" came on when they were rolling into town:

I took a ride out to shoot the bull with Wild Bill today and he showed me all the parts waiting around for a frame he ordered . He's going to build a Captain America bike. :D

Sweet! If he does, be sure to snag a few pics. Man that thing had 10 miles of chrome on it. I'd love to ride it, but hate to have to wash it!
In order to save about 2 grand,he's going to powder coat the frame in metallic silver at his shop. He's also going with the EVO motor .

Had a lot of fun on the bikes yesterday, hearing the roar, er, ah, I mean the hum of the battery tenders as I fired them up. :D

FYI: Erik Buell Racing closes, files for receivership

Erik Buell Racing, an East Troy motorcycle manufacturer that was the successor to a company once owned by Harley-Davidson Inc., has ceased operations.

The sudden move, announced Wednesday, leaves 126 employees out of work. The company has more than $20 million in outstanding liabilities, according to its attorney, and is seeking court protection from creditors.

Erik Buell Racing is the sequel to Buell Motorcycle Co., which was owned by Harley-Davidson for more than a decade before Harley dropped the brand in 2009.

Initially, the new company produced hand-built $40,000 sport bikes for road-racing enthusiasts. More recently, it geared up to build a less expensive mass-production motorcycle with a racing pedigree.

Company founder Erik Buell invested his own money into the venture, while Hero MotoCorp Ltd., the largest motorcycle manufacturer in India, had a 49% ownership stake.

The company had done well on the national racing circuit, where it went head to head with much larger companies such as Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki. But it struggled to gain sales in a marketplace dominated by Japanese and European sport bike manufacturers.

In the next week or so I expect to take delivery on a Husqvarna FE501s (runs a 510cc KTM motor) with a Rekluse autoclutch, Scotts steering stabilizer, Tubliss tire inserts, and the higher output Euro fuel mapping. Should be a big increase in capability over my Yamaha WR250R. The Yamaha is smooth, reliable, economical, and easy to ride but somewhat heavy and underpowered for serious dirt.

I'm not a biker but if I were, I would ride a Ural

Here's my Victory XCT, trussed up for a trip to the shop to have new tires mounted. Love this bike. Power-wise can't even tell when I have my Wife on the back.

I actually got pulled over on mine two summers ago in rural New Hampshire.

The cop let me off with a warning (I was ten over). As he was wrapping up, he asked "how does this thing handle anyway?" I said "well, it's sort of like driving a grand piano around." :D

Yeah....but a grand piano that goes through 6" of mud and snow, mounts a .30 cal on the front and makes jumps like there's no tomorrow.....

does anyone here ride a three-wheeler? i'm not referring to a side-cab tricyle like in #243.

I saw some street three wheelers (two wheels forward) at the Can Am dealer when I bought my Maverick Turbo. I thought the Maverick was expensive as hell but those three wheelers can easily break $30,000. Looked pretty cool but I'm a 2 or 4 wheel guy....
