BK-19? UPDATE: SIGHTED AND PHOTOGRAPHED!

This is great news! That blade really looks very "slicey" and no doubt it will be a solid performer.
I'll get one as soon as it becomes available here in Germany. Also the info that there are more to come was quite promising! :)

I am not surprised that a Nessmuk style came down the pipeline - I am a little surprised at the missed opportunity to do a release similar to the 62 though.

I only have the one "Nessmuk". It's a knife that is pretty superb at the skinning duties but it lacks in many of the other traits that I want in a good all around camp knife. For example, despite its excellent slicing properties, it is not a great food prep knife - I have to change my technique and as such, I am not overly efficient.

Still, its relevance as a style cannot be understated.

I have no needs in the belt knife space but this one could end up being mighty tempting. I have one very nice custom Nessmuk, in fact. And since I'm not a hunter it's generally speaking not a very good all around utilitarian knife shape, but if this ends up being the final design then it's got enough of a point that I think it actually would be very useful. I've wanted a 'poon for years and held off: might not be able to for this. I'd definitely love a necker version of this design too!

Super curious about the posts relating that Ethan isn't a nessie fan but yet here's a Becker nessie...

it is said he loathes scandi patterns with the passion of a thousand burning summer sausages, and equally does not like Nessmuk...

"yet here's a ..." yeah, after 20 years of prodding and he's claiming no responsibility...

functionally, i don't see any difference between the two right most, except one is "less tactical"...

now with the BK16, over all a little more stout, i again don't see a lot of day to day difference...

just not for me

The BK-19 and the desire to acquire.

Blades in this size range are the sweet spot for me.

Big enough to do 90%of what needs doing.
At least 90% of what I need to do.

That makes them extremely versatile. Plus the size allows for easy belt carry.
Meaning you actually have it on you when you need it.

Ethan describes the BK-18 as a trailing point that doesn't look like a trailing point.
The BK-19 sems very similar.

He also pointed out (no pun intended) his trailing points (Becker/Fisk) never sold well.
Here is my BK-5 with some other camp/survival knives. The elliptical blade shap has been in camps at least since the Voyagers.
It just works well for so many camp chores.

Personally, I can speak with some experience on how good the Becker Trailing Points are.
The make great camp knives. My BK-15 has seen tons of camp life.

Another benefit is they are easy to keep hair popping sharp.

The curved blade shape makes them slicing machines.

You need to do this,

and this,

Before you can make this,

The curve and the geometry of the new Beckmuk has me interested. But I have yet to snag a BK-18.

The 19 would however pair well with my Saddle Axe,

A Nessmuk knife, like a Sddle Axe comes with a learning curve.
Some folks don't care for them, because they have not yet come to understand that.
Those that do are rewarded with a great set of camp tools.

Knives and Axes are like Pinecones, they can look different but still accomplish many of the same tasks, just in different ways.
Jack Pines for example, only release their seeds after a fire.

I get my monthly pay today, that my friends is extremely dangerous.

ETA,
