ideas are great things... many people over the years have dropped some fine ideas down.
however, i don't know if any y'all have ever worked with legal properties, in particular, a brand marque, and a engineer/code, designer writer, maker or anyone who's livelihood comes from ideas... yes? no?
generally, from a legal standpoint, you can send them ideas all day long. they cannot, as a rule, EVER, acknowledge that you did so. not without much hassle and grief down the road.
why? let's say they have in mind for a 50% longer 3/8 thick BK2 battleaxe, and they go ahead and make it, sell it, and it thrives, and makes a LOT of money. yahoo right? well, what if 6 months down the road, someone complains and says "hey, that's my design and they stole it from me! i have proof, here's the dated forum post! here's everyone at KaBar sayiing 'dats cool'"...
in fact, they can't even acknowledge that they have ever been exposed to it. in the software world, we call ideas like that as being tainted. it takes an extra bit of effort to timeDate your work to make sure that people can't claim it as their own. not saying anyone HERE would do that, but there you go. it does happen, all the time.
now, you have to imagine, that in some regards, most of the common ideas for changing the knives has been thought of, yah? even certain designs, variants, and types. doesn't take a stretch to go "well, i got 15ish basic design patterns here, let's whip out the old BOOK OF HISTORICAL KNIFE SHAPES" and see what i can sketch up that's new"... many influences, all of which have to be accounted for.
then again, i could be full of it
keep your ideas flowing. perhaps you'll go out and make something yourself, but i would have to expect, that in this area at least, you cannot ever expect anything whatsoever from The Powers That Be. imho, they just can't do it.
