BK2 Question

Hello all,

I was hoping someone may have some inside information that they can share. I am trying to purchase the current, soon to be "old", version of the BK2. Nobody seems to have them in stock. All of the vendors I have spoken to have said that the BK2 is on backorder until early March. My question is, when these knives ship from the factory, will they be the old version or the new version? I read another thread that mentioned the new version wouldn't be available until about April. However, in the photos from Ethan's visit to the factory, it appears that the new version has been in production since at least early January. I would think that if they had any of the old version that had been produced prior to that, they would have shipped by now. Does anyone have any information?

Thanks.

Hey Tacoma....

I talked with the esteemed Tooge today and any Campanions coming out of Olean will be the new guys.....They are backordered.........

I have only a couple left myself but I am so confident you will be tickled with thenew Campanion I will offer to replace the newbie with one of my veeery limited stock if you are unhappy.......There is a reason or two as to why we made the changes...

One....Better balance for chopping

Two....Weight reduction

A place to hammer on if you need it

A way to more surely create headaches in the ungodly.........

Any way I think you will like the new one just fine.....Old guys are not always better....Just ask my wife.......

Hope this helps your decision making process.....

All Best....

Thank you very much Mr. Becker. I will give the new version a try. Also, thank you for designing such fantastic knives.

I got mine from amazon just a couple weeks ago, but I see now that the price has gone up and they are showing a several week shipping lag.

For what my opinion is worth, I think the new mods are worth the extra $10.
I made my own pommel-end (ground the scales back a bit) and wouldn't mind losing the bit of weight. In the end I just didn't want to wait and the new prices weren't out yet, so it was a gamble to wait (and Amazon had a wicked good deal at the time).

For the record, I'm delighted with mine and see no need to "upgrade", but I don't think there's any specific advantage to the old model except for a few dollars saved on an already relatively inexpensive knife.

man i'm glad i got one of the solid ones! I like the beef!

that being said the new ones will be sweet too.......CORD WRAPPED!

I suppose I'll have to break down and get one of the new ones, too.

Sigh... it's just one thing after another... thank goodness.

Yeah the pommel might be better but lighter weight no, glad I got an old style one. I believe chestnut ridge knife shop still has them.

It always surprises me with who likes what. I had been holding off on the BK2 because my BK10 was just right. Now that the BK2 has been redone, I can retire it to collection status and get the BK2 with all the new features that I love to be my new little buddy.

Ethan, I know that there was talk about the BK10 coming back. With the BK2 getting the lighter handle, and hammer pommel, it seems to me that the only difference between it and the BK10 is going to be the tip, thumb ramp, thickness and sheath. Were the changes made to the BK2 done in order to give us something close to the BK10 without the real thing having to go back into production, or is it still slated to make a return?

DBob,

It's all part of an insidious global plot to relieve you of your hard earned cash.

Funny, Paul, but Ethan had a similar reaction last time I mentioned something like this. Reading between the lines I got the feeling he was saying something like "Buy! Buy! Buy!," but I couldn't be sure because of the maniacal digital laughter coming from the internet.

Global plot or not, it seems to be working.

DBob,

I'm not sure, but I'm pointing to Bladite as the diabolical head of the syndicate. Ethan is just a figure head.

That makes sense to me. Ethan is just the jolly, easy going front man, while Bladite, well, Bladite is... I don't know, but anyone with that many Beckers must have an agenda that we don't know about.:D

I think he's out to make the rest of us buy as many Beckers as he has, thus manipulating the economy.
