BK20- Speculation on the 450 units

Nice Zz..
I'm sure that takes some self discipline which I lack.
I literally pass about 6 thrift stores on my way home. I have way too much shit "waiting" to be sold on eBay.
About a year ago ibdid really well and was able to move everything at a decent profit. Since then work and life has been so demanding that I lost interest and motivation. That and I share PayPal with the wife so she does a nice job at draining my profits!

I have piles of copper but the bottom fell out on the scrap price. Less than half so it sits for now.

I hope they make more. I'm not all about limited runs and having something "special". If it's a good design I want everyone to be able to enjoy it.

I do! I remember the first time I traded some green stamps. I hit up my mom and grandma, then just rummaged around all the drawers and stuff around the house. Finally I had enough for a pup tent. Prob my first camping experience in the back yard with the dogs. Damn...Ive never even thought about that until now. Weird the way memories disappear then pop back up like that. Thanks bootzon!

Your welcome. When we cleaned out my Mom's stuff we found shoeboxes of filled green stamp books. Damn shame. She saved them for years and then never cashed them in. Too late now. I put them up hoping they'll be worth something as collectables when my heirs clean out our stuff. You never know. Maybe they will be in high demand for decoupage material. lol

Becker Platinum Card... the new cash and carry. Cash now. Carry later.

Yeah, Scrap prices have plummeted. Last summer, scrap steel went for $10.80 / 100#. Last week it was down to $3.50 / 100#. Copper and aluminum have dropped as well, but not as drastically. The tale I was given by the scrap yard is that China's economy is starting to tank and they've quit buying as much scrap. That they were buying everything they could a year ago. Don't know if it's true. Haven't seen anything else about them tanking, but apparently that have quit buying as much scrap. I only sold because my scrap trailer was full and I needed to empty it.

I own a BK2, BK10, BK14, BK16. These are four of the best, most afordable knives on the market. $200.00 is out of my price range, even with the added two knives. I've been waiting for a new design from you ever since the BK16, you've priced me out of the market though. I know you have said in the past you were not a big fan of your "Brute" knife, but I shure would like to see it return. I still love you "Uncle Ethan"!

Thanks

I have been bugging the crap out of Ka-Bar to build this knife...... They built the number they thought they could sell......We got 450 of them...... I am happy...... Who knows(do NOT read anything into this statement as there is no there, there)I will be pushing and bitching for more as I am confident that it is a viable long term product...... John is very good at saying no if he is confident that it is not........ He is right most of the time and I respect his instincts - most of the time..... I try to not talk him into losing money - he gets testy, and I do not blame him..... I am very thankful that a project that has been gestating for decades has come to successful fruition....... I like my new knife and am damn happy to be able to use it......

have you seen how much Brute's sell for on the secondhand market?
even used?
due to the complexity of the design and the number of processes it would take to make one, I suspect the price would be up there with the BK20 & 21.

Hey JB.....

Eric is right about the price of a new run of Brutes.... And try as I might, I cannot get a brute to perform as well as a Nine or a Machax..... I am certain the Brute will come in far behind the Bundok in performance....... The Brute has never performed,in my hands as it's snaky, cool looks....

It do LOOK fine though, don't it.....?....

All best....

Ethan

Loving this Bundok already Ethan. Its starting to lose some coating and I just got it Friday ..lol Hellova blade sir. Thank you for getting it made.

Still love the brute looks, mean looking blade isn't it? Pretty sure isn't as good as a 9 or like the new 20 ,but the design is sooo sweeet, eye candy for me, that's wy I own three of them..

Good to know. I still dream about getting a brute, but I guess that would just be for show. Nothing wrong with that though:p
My 20 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. West coast shipping:thumbdn:

I had one - "had" being the important word.
bk9 bites deeper, and has better balance.

The BK1 and BK6 are in my collection, but I have never used them (they are NIB). I have always heard that they were not the best performers, but they do have looks that kill for sure. The Bundok gives me the same visceral feeling and performs very well.

I don't think I have ever seen so much stressing over the release of a new Becker. Rejoice ingrates.

BK-20 - Immediate purchase. Delivery - Why is this box so heavy? Why is there a 4 and 5 in the box? Reread the site in less of a hurry. Free knives with the limited 450 run???? WOOOO! One can never have enough Machaxen laying around.

Looks like a reworked Brute kind of. Me likey, need to order more.

I'm going to go ahead and agree with the leather gnome. 20 is totally worth the price of admission, IMO. Pretty much what MSRP (not what can be found on the interwebz) of the 21 is. Thanks for working so hard bringing this to fruition, Uncle E. Add in *free* knives and it's an absolute steel (HA!) if you ask me. If you flip the 4 & 5 for rock bottom (there will be someone who would quite readily buy each for $50) then you've just bought yourself a piece of Becker history/greatness for a C-note. I have a Junglas, and I don't need to do a side by side to know how much I like the 20. For those of you pining for a Brute, well.....it does look cool, but the only way to make one useful is to ruin it by putting an actual edge on it.....and even then the 9 & 4 blow it away for just about everything except hammering. As for the BK-12...they're available right now. pony up the $$ and you'll have one at your doorstep. BUT, for a few $ more and a little belt tightening, you'll have THREE blades. I have a couple RSK MKII's and it is my favorite all-rounder.....but the Machax is a pretty close second and it comes FREE with the purchase of a Bundok Bowie ;).

Ditto. Rejoice, ingrates. And for the rest of you who aren't ingrates, rejoice as well!

and don't forget, that $200 seems to INCLUDE the cost of shipping.

so, 3 big knives. 3 sheaths, shipping included.

nobody likes the handles, or the sheaths, wah wah wah.

same is true of knives costing more that don't come with sheaths.

and stuff.

:D
