"Black Box" Winchesters

Steve, boxes are nearly identical. here's an example: the smaller box (bone) has a lightly textured surface, the larger box (Delrin) is smooth.

It is a dogleg, with a candle end bolster, I think!
A torpedo jack is an extra large regular jack, like a Case 99 which is about 4 1/8" long.

thanks for the email rick.

actually like the one above pretty good too.
i am a single blade collector,

Folks, rather than clutter up our threads with "knives wanted" posts, please post in the "Exchange" ("Knives: Wanted To Buy") or in the "Slipjoint Swap Meet" if you have something to trade. Otherwise send an email or PM to the person who posted the knife you are interested in and ask them if they can assist with a vendor or supplier. Recently we've had a rash of such posts in our threads and if it goes unchecked it will quickly get out of hand. Thanks for your cooperation.

Again, how could I be so ignorant back when these were out not to collect them. I remember looking at them in the catalogs with no clue as of the quality.

There are certainly a lot of really nice knives here. I completely missed these when they were being made; not good for me. Anyway, after looking through this thread and finding out that the 2011 Case/Bose collab would be a coffin jack, I had to have one of these (Greg's picture):

It came today and I am really impressed with it. I'll take my own, not so great, picture of it tomorrow and drop it in here. I can say I like it a great deal and I am looking forward to the Case/Bose knife and finding at least a couple more of these great black box Winchesters. - Ed

Jeff, the one I have is 3-1/2" closed and the main blade is 2-3/4" from tip to bolster with right at 2-1/2" of edge. The pen blade measure just shy of 2" from tip to bolster, with 1-5/8" of edge. Pull on the blades is probably a 7-8, pretty strong. It has half stops on both blades. Fit and finish is very good, but not quite perfect. I wouldn't send it back though: it's a very good knife. The springs are flush in all three positions on both blades. The scales are bone I think and are a very uniform black color. This is a very good production folder. The main spear blade is marked on the back side with "2921" and " '87". The factory edges on these blades will not shave out of the box, but they are ok for factory edges. Better than most.

Yep, I'm going to like this knife
