Black Cloud Philippine Box Cutter

Excellent!

It may just be mine, but I've noticed that the sheath isn't the most secure one I've seen. I'm sure Ernie had a difficult time sheathing the PBC due to its funky blade configuration. When I practice draws, I often get small shavings on the tertiary edge (the hook part). Is that why you removed yours?

Hey! You've got a hook on yours, just like the picture? Mine doesn't have one, that pisses me off. I wanted the PBC BECAUSE of that hook. Hmmmm...I think I'll have to talk to Ernest about that. Or you could ask him for me.

Anyway, I do get some shavings. What I did was heat my sheath in the oven until it was fairly soft enough to remold it. Then I reformed it tighter, and took an Aim & Flame and sealed the seams. It's tighter, and so holds the knife much better. Its looseness did concern me at first b/c Ernest told me the sheath had some problems, and I only thought that was the shredding thing. But, it turned out to be fixable. Also, could you scan a pic of yours so I can see it and compare it to mine?

Aim and Flame? Geez I thought I was qualifying as the white trash rep around here, but maybe I have company...LOL

Nice to se Jon your penchant for taking well enough and making it better it still going strong. I am curious to know if you have figured out a practical way of trining live blade with this gadget (no offense of course) and not carving up a training partner nor getting splinters. Sweetine told me rigt out I am not hanging a log in the basement as a hard taget that moves...she is okay wit a heavy bag but not a log, I don't get it...I like the keychain mimic idea, I wil have to try that, maybe with a Hell's Belle....

Hey now, Parker, I only use Aim & Flame's b/c using lighters for such tight work burns the hell outta my fingers. Plus, they're fun for setting off those shorter fused, louder sounding fireworks.

Anyway, no, I haven't figured out a way to do live blade w/ it.

Even if I did, I don't have a partner right now, and even as we speak, the skills deteriorate exponentially. Maybe a dowel or more likely a replica carved outta basswood would be a better option than live blade, at least until a partner becomes accustomed to it and until one's comfort w/ it reaches an acceptable level (but you already know that). What about you, Squid, got any ideas about how to trin w/ it?

Musta been my brain asleep; Bram Frank (arnisman@aol.com) can rig you a trainer made of urethane molded right off the knife that will not break or splinter like basswood or any other wood. identical in all aspects except that it wil not have an edge or pointy bits, I have several of his and they are nice.

I have ben thinking about the trapping part, you could wrap a 1x2 in cloth over foam pipe insulation and have a training arm that will take a cut, not ding your finger and will be mobile should you find a partner.

Hey Parker, check this out: Newt Livesay's got some Titanium Tiger neck knives from a contract overflow going for $22! He's got less than 20 left, so if you want one, get on it! The blade length's 2", OAL 5 3/4", modified tanto shape. Cordwrapped in olive drab, the sheath's the same color, too. I ordered two, one w/ 1" of serrations, the other plain. And just for kicks, I got an NRG. Just as you said, Newt's a great guy, and I'm looking forward to these knives. I already asked him to chamfer the handle and spine more for me so I wouldn't have a G-45 repeat (remember that thread?) digging into my hand. He got on my order right away and said he's shipping on Monday. If you want more info, check out the Titanium Tiger thread on the open forum. Happy hunting!

I was not overly impressed by the shape of the tiger, I already have a titanium knife (BM 970ST) that is a cool toy but actually useless as a tool. Edge holding is not what I want nor is the shape. I wil keep it for a while then sell it for a nice profit or trade it to some BM collector for something useful.

Tiger was made for purposes I can relate to, but I hav a couple blades for that already. My collection is beginning to wind up, scary, eh?

Unless I can maybe talk myelf into looking for a Moran (I do not mean Spyderco) and a Fisk bowie to go with the Bagwell...
