Blade 2006 Preview!

Here's some sweet Jim Small engraving that will be on my table at 5H. One blade is George Werth damascus with black pen scales; the other is Bertie Rietveld Dragonskin with African Blackwood scales.

Both of your knives look really good, Mike

Best Regards,

Mike - I love the way you finished the circumference of the guard on that second knife.

Roger

I am really going to miss seeing these - Ed Caffrey's table is always a special treat:

First up is a multiple bar Mosaic Damascus blade with a flat/convex edge grind, hot blued mild steel fitting throughout, and a carved/textured fossil walrus ivory handle. The guard is embellished with mild engraving, the spacer with triple wheat leaf engraving, and a star burst engraved butt cap. Blade steels: 1080 & 15N20 Blade length: 10" Overall length: 15 1/2"

Next is a multi-bar mosaic damascus blade, with the majority of the remaining parts being 6AL4V Titanium. The titanium scales incorporate a "widow" cutout with white Mother of Pearl, a brushed "krackle" finish which has been muiti-color anodized, chevron pattern carved/textured back spacer, titanium liners that have been textured/multi-color anodized, dual anodized titanium thumb studs, finished off with 18K gold screws. Blade length: 3 1/4" Overall length (open): 7 1/2" Overall length (closed): 4 1/2"

Gorgeous knives.

thanks for posting those caffrey pieces roger. i saw the bowie at the reno show - very nicely done piece of work. was one of favorites there.

This has to be one of my favorite DesRosiers knives to date, rendered in an experimental damascus mix of W-2 and 15n20 with walrus ivory for the handle. Pure awesomeness:

I may have to knock off a couple of liquor stores, before I go to Atlanta. ;)
There is a lot of very fine work on this thread.

A couple of Quachita pattern hunters from Mike Williams. One desert ironwood, one afzalia burl. 5160 3 3/4 to 4 1/4 inches. SS fittings.

I'd sure have a hard time choosing between these two

One more reason to attend Blade '06...

A sharp (pardon the pun) stag folder that will be on Don Hanson's table. Great stag, bold damascus bolsters and W-1 hamon blade.

It would be so much more fun to handle all the fine blades on this thread rather than just view them. But, it if we could see some more...

I am now convinced that Don Hanson is trying to kill me.
I don't collect folders, but the profile on that knife is simply terrific.

Man I can't wait. These are some great looking knives in this thread. I will be making the rounds on Thursday to check everyones stuff out. Here is a couple that I will have on my table.
standard.jpg

standard.jpg

The forged w-2 blade is 13 7/8 long X 2" wide. The overall length of the knife is 19 1/4" It has a nice distal taper forged into the blade so it has a nice feel to it. The handle material is walrus ivory while the fittings are damascus.
standard.jpg

This is what I call my backalley bowie. The forged w-2 blade is 5 3/8" long and 1 1/2" wide, the top edge is sharpened. The overall length is 10 5/8. The guard is bronze while the handle is African Blackwood. The sheath will be a inside the waist band type setup. I eventually want to offer these in a spear point and a straight clip point also.
standard.jpg

Here is the Chesterfield Chopper. The forged w-2 blade is 12 1/4" long. The width varies from 1 3/4" to 2" as it travels to the point. The blade has my matte finish. The guard is 416 stainless and the handle is green canvas micarta. The overall length of this on is 18 1/4"
I still have to get some pics of my other knives.

The best thing about this thread is that all of the awesomeness depicted in the above photos represents but a tiny fraction of what we'll see in Atlanta.

Craig - that chopper must've been fun to make. I can't wait to see it!
