Blade 2006 Preview!

Craig — I really like that Chesterfield Chopper. I've come to favor that style blade shape for my using knives of all sizes.

I am now convinced that Don Hanson is trying to kill me.
I don't collect folders, but the profile on that knife is simply terrific.

Peter, maybe this will help you move towards the dark side.

I look at Don's folder, I see a small forged W1 bowie blade, complete with Hamon, with a killer stag handle, and a damascus guard, that happens to also, convieniently, fold. :)

So, should Don wrap it up? ;)

Craig - the Chesterfield chopper really rocks - that design just flat out works. Would love to see a presentation grade version.

Roger

 you guys are killing me! So many on three pages worthy of anyones' collection, and I know it's only the tip of the 'berg of what will be in Atlanta!

Since I can't be there, either, I really appreciate you guys posting these teasers... maybe it'll even serve to stirr me to saving and making the journey next year... Now, I guess I'll just have to wait for the After Show Report! :)

Your raise an important point, my friend.

All you lucky SOBs heading to the show, PLEASE take PICS! And, if I may suggest, after you take a picture of the smiling maker, please point the camera DOWNWARD, in the general direction of his TABLE and take a picture of the KNIVES! ;)

Too often we see show pics that are bereft of knife content. It's a knife show, not a maker pageant. Okay, rant off. :o

Roger

no kidding Roger. While many makers are great people, I do not find them particularly attractive. :D Their knives are another matter.

Rodger, shaldag, What are ya'll talking about  I get published in Blade because of my "good looks and Charm" :D :o

Seriously, I too would much rather see photos of knives rather than us not so pretty knifemakers  Good advise Roger

In fairness to you and other but-ugly makers Don, (:p :p ) I like seeing both the makers and the knives. For newer knife enthusiasts is great to be able to put a face to a name, or even for the well seasoned to get a glimpse of a new maker they may not yet have met.

It's when we see nothing BUT maker pics that I get cranky.

Roger

You guys owe me a new keyboard. I've druelled all over mine after these fine, fine knives. Hope to see some at the show...

Here's a couple for the showl. Big one has 15 1/2" blade. Ironwood on both.

Great lookin knives Jody, I'll see ya next week.

But remember, NO photos of knifemakers :D :D :D

I STILL think that Jody should dress up like an Amish dude! Ya English!:D

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Here is a very nice Bowie from MS Mike Williams that he will be taking to Blade He calls this a "Tenkiller Bowie". Mike used 8670m steel. The Blade length is 11", it has an S-Guard with SS fittings, and sheephorn handle.

If I could have any knife from this whole 3 page thread-putting aside World Famous makers and prices,I would take the DesRosiers W2 9.5in. Fighter/ bowie in RogerP's original thread Hands Down. The shape of the blade & handle & guard configuration comes together making a knife that would easily be in the Top 5 in my knife collection.I REALLY Like That Knife. Thanks for the pics Roger.

This paints an amusing picture. For those that don't know Jody, he has an Amish style beard, so with the proper dress he could pass anywhere for an Amish dude :D There was an Amish maker a numder of years ago who became quite popular in the custom knife world, then disappeared overnight and lived not too far from here in MO.

Very close Steven. Randy Wittman, Seymour Mo. Just found his ad in a 1994 Blade, he made some nice folders with no power tools.

Roger,
Thanks for this amazing thread with all the incredible knives.
I thought I would be able to make it to Blade as well but can't swing it.
This was  .

Doug:)
