Blade disappointment

Why not just order exactly what you want from Busse?

Busse typically offers a number of unique knives at the Blade Show, things that can't be ordered or may never be seen again. So you have to be there, or have a friendly proxy, to have a chance of scoring.

How does the early bird special on friday night work first to the trough gets first dibs or what?
*tightens up his nikes*.

Friday night? What are you referring to? Blade show opens to the public at 2pm on the Friday. The VIP passes being offered will get you in at noon. Last time I was there, 2009, the line at the door started forming at 7am, and the first 20, 30 people were mostly Busse fans. At 12 noon when the doors were opened, we made haste to the Busse booth. A large number of knives were laid out and for sale at 20% off list, from 12 - 1pm. The really good stuff lasted about 30 seconds. Not sure how it's been done in recent years.

Yeah for some reason I typed night sorry. You actually answered my question I was wondering how the Friday show works. Thank you.

Last year, I was something like 10th in line, with an early bird ticket, and rushed in, when the doors opened. Only to find the Busse booth swiped clean of Busse knives...

Apparently, those who attend Blade as exhibitors, like Busse as well:) And they get first grabs...

So, best chance of scoring a Busse is in the offerings.

Yeah that was painfully true, I was near the front of the line and did not get a single knife in the morning offering. Being tall has its benefits when they toss out the tickets if you can get next the MikeH and some other tall hogs to create a wall.

That's happened to me for several years as well, you have to be a hog to compete with the hogs.

Waiting in line one year, Eric, Chemain, I, and Matt were in line before the lights were even turned on. We had breakfast sitting down on some very uncomfortable carpet.

Just to see a certain hog who likes mammoth tooth walk right past us about an hour before the door opened.

You should've been there in 07 ! I still have nightmares :p

Since they stared having unboxing at given times its gotten much more easy. Just get there early for these and there is no way you will miss getting Busse's.

There is a tall, gray-bearded old fart there who likes to try to catch tags for practice for when he really wants one, so he ends up turning around and giving them away. Look him up.
As he gets older he has more trouble catching them, though. No guarantees.

I can vouch for this statement !
Got a couple from Mike myself. Thanks again, Mike.

I dont think last year they did the un-boxing at given times. I seem to remember them doing it in 2012, but not 2013. Of course I did bust my head open on the booth so somethings are fuzzy.

I didn't know that as I wasn't there last year.
I much prefer the old way though. Rough, but much more fun :D

Thank you Rob that answered my question as well.

Is that how it works for the friday night early bird session as well?

I'm not 100% sure how the Friday night early bird session will go, I'd say that is how it'll be done but I don't want to steer you wrong. I'd say your best bet would be to shoot Lexi any questions you have about that. Sorry I couldn't be more help :(

07, before the crowd went wild. Ken, waiting expectantly...

Yes they were at given times last year. Who knows this year though.

" 3one5 "

There are some really nice, helpful people located here in this forum. Eric for sure is one of them !!!!!!

This will be my first knife show as I plan on attending Blade this year ! can't wait 38 days and counting :) I'm mostly looking forward to meeting everyone and putting faces to names, shaking everybody's hand while having a couple cold ones :D So keep an eye out for the guy who looks lost with the deer in the headlight look on him lol, would be nice to meet you, hopefully see you there. Ah yes and scoring some INFI will just make it all the better :D:D:D

You won't be the only one looking lost, this will be my first year going to blade as well.

There are times that even the most seasoned of HOGs look a little lost, I'm sure that any of you guys who are going for your first visit to the trough will fit in just fine. I've seen "newbs" in the past step up to the trough and walk away with more INFI than more than a few of the Busse Blade Show veterans. The show is fun and definitely something to experience, I look forward to meeting anyone who hasn't been to the show before and, as always, I can't wait to see everyone again. :)

Boy! I was really hoping to make it this year with my son , we don't get to spend to much time together since I started working for the coroner's office.
He loves knives and camping but I can make the expense and take time off to finally make it to a blade show and come out empty handed and my son disappointed!

What a bummer!
