Blade disappointment

Boy! I was really hoping to make it this year with my son , we don't get to spend to much time together since I started working for the coroner's office.
He loves knives and camping but I can make the expense and take time off to finally make it to a blade show and come out empty handed and my son disappointed!

What a bummer!

If empty handed is what you are worried about, I wouldn't. I've never been to Blade, but every year I hear about the generosity of the HOGS, and how they won't let anyone go home empty handed.

First year I ever went to blade, I pre ordered a Gladius.

My only score was a RMJ Tactical Eagle Talon

It's a shocker to see people jumping and fighting for tags. You just have to have a little fight in you and you'll be fine. My first year I couldn't imagine jumping and pushing a stranger for a chance to spend several hundred dollars, now..... :)

I have gone to blade for that last two years. By the time I leave blade I swear of busse. I come to blade to buy a great knife to actually use. But know I get trampled in the pit by a buch of people that already have more then their fare sheer of busse. Most of them just do it to run back here and sell them. It has put a bad taste in my mouth for the last two years. Then I realize that it's not jerry and dan it's the hogs. I have had a good experience with a dog but that it. Tom is in a class all buy himself.

So then buy the time blade comes around again all is I want is to buy one of the best blades on the marked. I figure if I'm spending that kind of $ then I should be able to see and hold it before dishing out that kind of money. It just make's me sick to see knives I want to buy and knot be able to buy them. Then come on here and see them for sale. I understand that it's great that people that can't go to blade are able to get in on the offering. But here I I'm actually going to blade and knot being able to buy what I want. I can't bring myself to buy one off of here after the fact. Even if it is only $50 more then it was at blade because I'm not putting money in someone's pocket after I'm treated like that in the pit.

Just wanted to get this

In case you didnt notice....none of us get to handle the knives prior to buying. This is only an option when they sometimes put knives out on the counters.

I hope you come by this time. You cant always judge the book by the cover.

If your having a hard time I will be happy to help you myself. If your real nice the kids might help too:cool:

First let me buy around of beers for all.

Let me help you read between the lines....

Then let me say...Blade is the best thing there is in the knife world, and without a doubt the best show Busse does. Its a Vegas Show on steroids. Anyone that has ever been would know for a fact that Busse's arent the only knives bought for an investment and later sold for a profit. Heck, there are many other buyers of other makers knives that double up right at their tables

But, IMO Busse and Kin knives are without a doubt the most FUN to buy. YMMV:D

Ive been attending since 2008. I havent missed a year, and its my three kids favorite trip of the year. They expect to go to blade. :)

Anyone scared off by old men in wheel chairs, and children need to check themselves:D
(said with much respect to my Elders that have and will leave hoof prints in your and my behind)

My little one wants me to ask you guys if she's really that scary??:D:D

THe pit...Its like a big family thing...like a reunion. Everyone jumps for the thrill of catching the card (which you eventually turn in for a knife and means knife going forward) which beats the heck out of standing around praying other makers draw your name or card from a hat:yawn:

Busse brings way too many knives to Blade to ever raffle them off like others do. It would take weeks. So, just another example of why you should not worry:thumbup:

Folks get a little excited when there is a very special limited release on somethings and occasionally bump there head on the table. Thats about as rough as it gets.:D

Fair warning if you happen to make it to the front row:cool:

This has also occurred when bending over at any time. Be careful. Watch the old and experienced...catch it in the air:thumbup:

Every Hog knows that just like life there are no guarantees and No one owes you anything. People may or may not get the exact knife they wanted. This is part of the fun... but most come away with more than they can handle.:cool:

All of us that have known each other forever trade cards around the whole time. Even giving away cards when we have extras, or not. Making sure most everyone gets taken care of.

Now , we do give it to outsiders that try in barge in and be nasty. Besides that... Its all very good clean fun.

No grabbing cards from folks after they have gotten it secured. Secured being a key word:D....although there have been the ocassional asses but they never seem to come back.

I havent replied in this thread before cause I cant believe it. My kids think some of you are pouting:D and you need to learn to get what you get and not pitch a fit:eek:

They wanted me to ask...

How is it the Hogs fault that Jerry has chosen to throw the cards in the air:rolleyes:

What are we suppose to do???

Get out of the way and not eat
?:D

Where is the one that 3one5 praises so much? Says a lot that he has read it more than once but has never said Hey

Tao_M bring your son, come to the multiple free dinners and open bars Jerry puts on for all of us most nights, and enjoy the after hour ring toss for SHOP CREDITS, and all sorts of games that have in the past EARNED FREE SHOP CREDITS:eek:

So, If there is anyway in hell you go and leave disappointed then please let us all know.

If you do your probably wearing the wrong glasses.

Lets Drink!:D

My only disappointment is that I won't be there this year. Life has crapped on me this year, but I'll be back. Hope you guys have a great time.

When I do finally get around to attending I am bringing my trained Wallaby and Trained Koala..... the Wallaby jumps above all the hogs (or on them ;) ) the Koala snatches the cards out of the air like eucalyptus leaves.... see...first rule in life... ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN....and a backup plan 'cause you know the first one will go all to cr@p ;)

Im with Duramax well put Trevor! As if I couldn't be anymore excited WOOHOO!!!:D

The wife and I are pumped baby the show can't come soon enough.

Not to mention blade show starts my 2 weeks of vacation. Not working for half of june is gonna be sweet as well that gives me almost a week and a half to play with all my Busse/Kin I score at blade muahaha.

Blade is always a blast!! Most of the hogs in the trough are willing to lend a hand, or in Eric's case, knock ya over when he's going for a card!!

Dont really GIVE A CRAP AS TO WHETHER I GET BARRED OR NOT........ THE ONLY KNIFE I HAVE IN MY COLLECTION AS FAR A SURVIVAL KNIVES GO IS THE NMSFNO, AND WAHT A GREAT BLADE AND KNIFE IT REALLY IS ( I WOULD JUST LIKE TO ADD THOUGH THAT WHEN I APPROACED GARTH VIA EMAIL AT BUSSE HE HAS BEEN EXTREMELY HELPFULL IN EVERY QUESTION I HAVE ASKED HIM, ALSO IN EVERY ASPECT OF INQUIRY I HAVE PERSUED ) I HAVE HOWEVER APPROACHED A CERTAIN MEMBER ON HERE WHO WAS NOT TRUTHFULL TOWARDS ME WHEN I ENQUIRED ABOUT PURCHISING A BASIC 10 FROM HIM, CONSIDERING OVER SEAS SHIPPING COSTS, i HAVE ASLO NOTICED THAT FRO BEING AN ARM CHAIR OBSERVER HOW MANY CUT THROAT SOB's tHAT THERE ACTUALLY ARE CONSIDERING BUSSE KNIVES IN GENERAL ON THIS FORUM.....THOSE THAT JUST WANT TO COLLECT AS MANY KNIVES FOR COLLECTION PURPOSES WITH OUT GIVING AN ACTUAL DAM APART FROM ANYONE ELSE APART FROM THM SELVES AND THEIR OWN LITTLE GROUP OF BUSSE, HOGS, AND DOWN RIGHT PATHETIC COLLECTORS OF KNIVES OPERATING WITHING THE BUSSE FORMAT.........MY ALSO EXPERIENCE OF INFI AS A STEEL IS THAT OF AN INCREDIBLY STRONG STEEL BUT A TOTALLY RIDICULOUS STEEL THAT CANNOT HOLD AN EDGE RETENTION IN THE FIELD NOWHRE NEAR IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS O1, A2 ( well heat treated of course ) AND AN WHOLE LOAD OF OTHER STEELS THAT CAN DO A GREAT JOB, BETTER THAN INFI WHEN IT COMES TO KNIFE PERFORMANCE IN GENERAL. THIS HAS LED ME TO BELEIVE THAT ALONG WITH THE SILLY LITTLE SUB CULTURE THATBGOES HAND IN HAND WITH INFI STEEL AND HOW THEY ADVERTISE IT AS A STEEL THAT SOLEY BELONGS TO JUST BUSSE KNIFE GROUP ( which is just total bull ) LEADS ME TO BELEIVE THAT THE BRAND AND THE SO CALLED INFI HOGS ARE JUST NOTHING BUT A GROUP OF FASHIONISTAS EXPLOITING GREED FOR THE SAKE OF GREED..........GET OUT AND USE KNIVES INSTEADA SAT IN A PORNO CLOSET ADMIRING SHINY OBJECTS THAT AINT WORT A DAM IN THE FIELD.........AM I BARRED?.......DO I GIVE A DAM?.......NEVER HAD MUCH IMPUT ANYWAY........( my NMSFNO is a trully great feild knife but the edge retention is shocking also compared to weight distribution ) ALL WORKS OF ART ARE WORTH THE PRICE ONE IS WILLING TO PAY, BUT MAKE THESE KNIVES TRULLY GREAT AND NOT JUST A FASHION PEICE FOR ALOT OF GREEDY LITTLE KNIFE NO NOTHINGS ( Shine shine come to me, I will not use you but will sell you in my vision of what I feel you are and not what you are not )..........Also I am ranting about one particular brand of knife and not the other great or not so great makers of cutting tools that this site has for many years helped to spread their existence and capabilities ( NOT REALLY SURE IF THIS WILL MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE TO THE SO CALLED HOGS WHO SEEM TO BE RUNNING THIS SHOW THOUGH )...........Adios, without actually giving a dam!!!

.... well that's good, no truly it is ;) . Has this been building up and burning inside you for a long time ? It seems so ! Now not to be impolite but spelling, punctuation and correct use of capitalisation are very important when you are trying to make a valid point, as opposed to ranting away like a deranged toss monkey, but I digress. It is unfortunate that your experience with Busse and INFI steel has been less rewarding than that of many others, certainly there a few few here (that is an example of understating a point) who have very different experience. That is fine, honestly it is, no need to get upset about it, no one here will force you to buy another Busse product, no one here will try and stop you from doing so if you wish.

You should also understand that it is each individual's prerogative to buy and use (or not) what ever they wish and however they wish, your, my or the opinion of the two leprechauns hiding under your bed is not relevant to ANYONE (see, using capitalisation to make a specific point) other than the person's it is. That said, an open discourse of thoughts is generally encouraged here right up until it gets demeaning, rude or abusive. This is also a sub-forum paid for by Busse Co and frequented by people who like, maybe more than you, maybe less, knives of this ilk so you should expect some mildly differing opinions to be expressed that that of yourself. That too is OK. Just think about logging into a Ford Forum and spewing forth some bile (not saying that is what you just did, or didn't) about the latest Mustang, one could not expect to do so and not get a negative reaction ??

Now if English is not your first language, I have little in your posting to indicate it is, I apologise as it can be a little difficult to grasp. But I should also remind you of that very old internet adage "don't post when you are toast" :D That include being in the midst of a breakdown.

Kind Regards.

Andy

The idea that I have is that if you buy a Busse Knife and try to put a decent convex cutting edge on it the chances are slim ending up with a decent cutting edge without actually having to send it all the way back to the US TO HAVE IT RE-PROFILED.....THEN AGAIN I MAY TOTALLY BE WRONG AND THE EXPERIENCE THAT I HAVE HAD HAS INDEED BEEN DOWN TO MY OWN AND OTHERS LACK OF EXPERIENCE IN RE-PROFILING OR SHARPENING PRACTICE IN GENERAL........just saying!!!

Regards

TLDNR. Was someone just banging their head on their keyboard? I couldn't find the patience to try to make sense of this.
