blade forum knife ready yet

if it has a ti handle it would have to be a knife they already make ti handles for-

if we can get thomas to do it-it will have to be as simple as can be-
i think just asking for a damascus/sg2 blade is enough of a pain for them-

what about-

a mini cyclone, damascus with sg2 blade,ti lock side,g10 for the other side or what ever they use on the standard cyclone-

this would give us a unique blade and kershaw could pull parts off the shelf for the rest

ok i know your are all being serious about this now and trying to figure it out....but i have to ruin it. how about a Dead Sexy. and when it becomes the BF knife, i'm taking sexy back. and btw you can thank Offsetlover for my involvement.

i dont know this man!

anyway, what if we took a current design and a future design (like the taboo), and figured out which we want in like the next couple of days. then we figure out what materials we want used after that in a couple days time. then we should vote on it (be it in a poll or just a post). after that we go to Thomas and see what we can do.

we've just been going back and forth here and getting no where. i say we vote on it. the most votes for a knife design by say, Monday at 9pm PST is the winner (for both current and new models), then we vote on the materials to be used by say Thursday at 9pm PST. after that we vote on which we want most by say October 8th at same time. then we present this to Thomas.

anyone agree with me?

FYI, the new Shallot is a version of KO's Dead Sexy.

I like rosconey2's thinking...a Mini Cyclone, Ti frame, and a Dam blade...I'd buy it in a minute!

Hmmm, forum knife....I just can't see it...too many other knives to make. Maybe next year...I'd like to see if you all can agree on anything though(that should be fun to sit back and watch).

Splinter in quince wood ;):D. I had to at least try.

Ok, so if I'm understanding the BF knife you all want, it has to have the following:

6 different steels
5 handle materials
4 locks
3 grinds
both manual and AO
and
a zippered case

all rolled into 3 designer patterns.

Got it, and I'm on it!!!!

YXR7 steel - no one brings it to US yet! You'll be first!

I saw Inferno just recently - I want Inferno now!!!:

and then Taboo...

Thanks, Vassili.

i would take it that no one saw what i said about actually taking a vote? thats sad guys. we keep saying we want a BF Kershaw, but we keep going on and on about diferent things like what Thomas said. all sorts of different grinds and steels. comon guys. if we are really serious about this knife then we need to do something. actually i will in another thread post something we can do.

looks like we are getting close-lol

i honestly doubt it will ever be a reality because some people dont understand what a pain in the backside doing 40-50(thats what we got for a slippy blade forums knife count) knives would be

the economics dictate we might have a chance with a standard handle and just get a sweet steel-

anyhoo thomas why dont you give us a few options since your in the cat birds seat and have privy to info we dont-

tell us what we have the best shot at

Excellent! Now you know EXACTLY what we want. Glad to hear you're on it, so we should expect them by...next week?!?

OK! I think Kershaw has the technology, skills, talent, and resources to make this knife a reality!

With Kershaw's composite blade technology I think they could get three different blade steels into a blade, meaning the blade forum knife would only need to have two blades to have a total of six different steels. With the amazing precision of Wire EDM they could probably get all six into one blade, but it would probably have to be about the size of an Outcast to be able to see the different steels.

The five handle materials could also be easily done using Wire EDM.

The four locks would be trickier, but two different locks per blade sure would be secure! Imagine how well it would do in spine whack tests or batoning!

Three grinds, no problem! The Offset has two already! (Doesn't really count since it MIM'd.) But the right blade geometry would make it easy to use two grinds on one of the blades. So three grinds between two blades should be easy.

Manual and AO, well the two blades made that simple. One SpeedSafe blade and one manual flipper.

Zippered case, well Kershaw's already got those, but some new materials might be nice.

Three designer patterns, Kershaw's got more than three GREAT designers to choose from, with at least one that I know of in house full time. Just need to figure out which three will willing to collaborate on this thing.

It'll be one hell of a knife! I imagine it would be able to win just about every knife award out there. The bad news is that it would probably cost around $1000.

You all are crazy that's all there is too it.

You all are crazy that's all there is too it.

I know you know, that everything I said is true (well maybe not the the lock thing, that was kind of ridiculous, though it probably would have gotten he whose name we shall not speak and a a few of his followers excited), but you do know I was just kidding, right? :D

Oh and you are probably right, we are all crazy...

I know Kershaw will print company logos and such on handles.
Why couldn't we just get a nice set of scales with a Bladeforums Logo
stamped on??
Like a Leek since it is so popular.
You could change out blades with whatever you have or buy
a plain Leek and change handles. etc....
That would cut down on costs so many others wanting something
Bladeforumsy but not wanting to shell out $200 could get it.

TW, would that be possible, to be able to buy just handles/scales???

Just a thought.
