Blade forum user names.

:) The originator of this thread should be commended. This is really wonderful reading all these interesting stories.

Broomhilda, was the very first suggestion I got when I asked my family, what should I call myself? It's from the comic strips. Don't read comics anymore, and don't know if Broomhilda is around these days in the newspapers. But it appealed to me immediately. I would be interested to find out if there was a "reason" why that particular character came to mind first !!! Huh !

Broomhilda

I was looking for this thread all through Community and couldn't find it. I don't know how I found it the first time.

Since we're in the Blade Discussion forum, here's some knife content:

I like knives.

Resume,

This rather dumb name was the name of my character in the MUD I used to play on the Uni of East London server back in 1992-1993. Met some real good friends there, one of which introduced me to the first custom knife I have ever held, a genuine Chris Reeve handmade folder.

Now that I think about it, I shoulda used my real name, but what the heck...

One of my "gifts" that I have is that I can bestow knick-names on people that stick. I usually try to keep them somewhat nice, but occasionally I hit with a nasty one that sticks that also gets me in trouble.... Like the resident intern that I knicknamed "psycho-Barbie" If you knew her, 'nuff said. I also gave my former roomie and rugby teammate the knickname of "crazy-legs" after the obvious way he ran. Anyways, he called me Mongo after the character in Blazing Saddles. Since I am largish and used to be a hell of alot stronger, he claimed that I turned into Mongo when I got drunk. I allegedly did things where I didn't know my own strenth, or I babbled often mono-syllabically or even just grunted. I can't claim any knowledge of these things though. And just for the record, I do not remember pissing on any Morman church!
I do keep falling for those candy-grams though,
Only a pawn in the game of life.... Mongo

I use the name "Coonskinner" because I have been a coon hunter most of my life, and it just seemed like a good idea at the time.

Mine comes from one of my favorite scripture verses.

"....If God is for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31

the time i logged in that was my favorite handgun caliber
(was not much into knives then)
Now i have more knives than guns,
but with guns my favorites still are the .45`s.

I stole my name from an elderly guy named Socrates :)..., as in the phrase ~~> "The unexamined life is not worth living".

"Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]"

From what my father told me: My father had a law office many years ago, and his name was on the office window. Two little girls were standing in front of the office one day, reading the name, and he overhears them talking. One says to the other, "If you take the i's out of the last name, you get the word crabs." Frank is my first name, hence FrankieCrabs.

Is it true that if you change your username, your post count is reset to 0? I've considered changing my username at times, but wouldn't if that were the case.

Frank

I used to be davidb415 before the shock treatments;) I changed my handle to Double Edge Dave because I love double edged knives of all kinds. If a knife only has one sharpened edge, it is only half finished!!! Plus it sounds a little less formal and stuffy than davidb415.

Back when I was in the military and was running low on money. A bunch on the guys would get together in one room and play Risk and listen to the Nationl Lampoon Radio Hour and the Fireside theater. Had a spoof on space exloration with Dr. Narco and the space explorers. At the time we were exploring the space between our ears so we made up our own little gang. I was Dr. Narco and I just shortened the name and added my lucky number '9'.

Because I´m in the business of knives, for every thing that have work to do with knives I use my last name and my internet country code.
But my private nickname is TauRho - greek letters TP - my initials.

Mine comes from Robert Jordan's *fantastic* Wheel of Time series. In the Old Tongue, the word "asha'man" means "guardian of justice". Rand al'Thor calls his army of men who use the One Power "Asha'man", both in the singular and the plural. I like it because the Asha'man as a group are cool, it looks good, nicknames well, and lets people who're "in the know" know that I love WoT.

That's more than you ever wanted to know, eh? :D

Asha'man
