Blade Forums Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife 2021)

I think you have totally misread what happened and been quite ungenerous.
Barrett is a long standing and very valued member, and I think he was quite clear in what he was thinking when he posted it.
I'm not sticking up for his post, nor putting down his post, I'm not taking sides in it... but I am standing by his right to express that opinion.

I’m thinking a lightning bolt running diagonally across the bolster with the words “WHITE LIGHTNING” on either side. ⚡

The white bone looks great, but I have to say, a secret secondary cover material of the annual Forum knife produced for some but not (nearly) all who would normally qualify and offered under the table strikes me as a bit odd, and not really in the spirit of project, but maybe that’s just me. I hope those who were offered one were at least vetted to confirm that they did, in fact, vote for white bone in the polls. 😉🙄
Bill offered me these knives, from leftover parts, probably because of my long association with helping Forum knives along over the years.
The only things that were not left over were the Sawcut Hemlock handles.
Can you imagine the lolly-scramble hell I was in for, if I announced a drop,or a sale etc, of 40 White knives.
I did what I thought was best to get them into qualified hands!
Have any shown up on Ebay yet??? Hopefully they never will, but it's in God's hands now!!
I did not make a huge profit on these knives _ enough to give one away, have one (an "S" model) rehandled in Stag, and one to keep (another "S").
Not all, but most went to "Voters for White Bone"!
Whoever I missed, please accept my apologies! I sent notices to people as their names popped up in my lurking/reading on the forums.
I was hoping there would be no hard feelings, but I see you all want to know the story.
Now it's in your hands!!

Charlie, Bill did good by you and it sounds like you did good by quite a few people.
Thank you for all you do and did for the 21 forum knife - Even if some folks feel it was a fiasco.
Both knives look good and by your first post about the white knives, I thought it was pretty clear that you did your best to "thoroughly vet" the recipients of them.

I hope the new year treats you and yours well.

I wouldn't worry over it too much, Charlie. Frankly, I don't think there is any way you could have gone about distributing these without some folks feeling put out - there simply isn't enough to meet the demand. I am happy that some folks got a special knife and I hope they aren't deterred from posting about them - they are fine looking knives from what I have seen so far.

And a good story it is.
As if your integrity was ever in doubt...Not on my watch Mister!
All hands on deck.
Man the pump and hoist the colours.
There be treacherous reefs ahead as we sail into 22 ...The unknown awaits....did I mention sharks and the giant squid?....Fear Ye Not!....they're not for ages yet .

Okay, JMO but I think the white bone ones should have had a GEC tang stamp or something. Surely shouldn't have piggy backed off the Blade Forums knife.
Doing so diminishes the unifying spirit of the yearly Blade Forum knife and makes some members "privileged" or singularly "favored". But that's an obvious given.

The threads have been archived, but was smooth white bone 3rd(?) 4th(?) last(?) in membership voting? Did smooth white bone even get more than 40 votes?
Smooth white bone wasn't even the membership's second choice behind Hemlock ... I think Chestnut was(?).

Before posting, I thought this through and the argument can be made that any given GEC knife released under any name is always available in various covers, so why is this any different?
And I think doing so makes, to a certain degree, the Blade Forums knife a common production commodity with no significance other than GEC desirability.
I was under the impression the yearly BF knife was truly something special, both unifying and unique ... for all and not to be infringed ... as widely stated and accepted.

Beyond all that, I think the various iterations of the Blade Forum knife are all beautiful and worthy of pride of ownership and sharing. Enjoy :)

Smooth bone was second and very close, and we chose style before color.

Okay so smooth beveled = white? ... That's a reach isn't it? I don't think it equates, at least not according to other GEC releases or CASE or any other maker for that matter.
I won't post my various smooth beveled knifes that definitely aren't white. Well, I do have one that is LOL. Not to be picky, but just a thought, while we're thinking.

I guess for what ever reason, those 40(+) 86 frames with Blade Forums tang stamp couldn't be covered in Hemlock and made available to long standing members who missed the opportunity.
For the porch and community as a whole and all.
Oh well, It is what it is ... done thinking ... I hope

I was a little surprised/dissapointed to find out there was a double secret knife at first. But then I read waynorth waynorth explanation and was completely satisfied. That kind of thing only comes from having a great relationship with the people at GEC, and thats the only reason we got a forum knife to begin with. Happy for all the guys that got one, perhaps thats just another good reason to be a regular participant here.

The Porchenberg Narwhales is an ancient and secretive society. The elusive activities of the Chief Narwhale are often shrouded in mystery but always for the greater good of all Porchenbergers....Ask mot what The Porch can do for you...but what you can do for the porch.(Jon.F.Meakinnedy)

I love this! 👍🏼

You cant please everyone, nowadays its hard to please anyone in fact 🤣.

You didn't have to do it especially after all the grief you had with the first lot.
All I can see is that you gave yourself a whole lot more trouble/work/effort and made a judgement call.

You didnt have to send me a knife to England, but you did and I am extremely grateful.
I will never sell it and as I promised I am using it.

I saw the attitude on Facebook where people had absolutely no shame even when I called them out, they had purchased only to profit.

I believe the good out weighs the bad, thank you once again.
