Blade HQ Exclusive Manix in M4

Was all set and ready at 8:30 PST. Then got sent on a work errand right before the drop at 9. Was certain I'd miss out but managed to get phone service and snagged a couple. So psyched!

That was quick! I was going to get one when I got home from work, but missed out! Oh well...

I wonder why they would limit the run so much if they could have sold more? It's not like BHQ benefits from resale prices.

6. Scarcity

Cialdini’s final principle is the principle of scarcity, which states that people are highly motivated by the thought that they might lose out on something. Call it the Eternal Teenager Principle: if someone tells you that you can’t have it - boy, do you want it.

Marketers trigger this effect by using all kinds of tactics to suggest that products (or low prices) might soon be gone, or that someone is trying to keep this product off the market.

THE RESEARCH BEHIND SCARCITY
Researchers Worchel, Lee, and Adewole asked participants to rate two jars of cookies. Initially, both jars contained 10 of the exact same cookie.[*]

Then from one jar, eight cookies were removed (making them more scarce).

Now participants had to choose between the jar with 10 cookies or the jar with only two left.

Which one do you think people chose from more often?

The jar with only two cookies.

SCARCITY MARKETING TACTIC #6: LIMITED PRODUCTION (EXCLUSIVITY)
Other times, limited stock isn’t a product of high-volume demand--it’s a deliberate sales strategy.

Small-batch, limited edition products are just that. Think back to the Adidas release of Kanye West’s Yeezy Boost 350. Within minutes of going for sale online, the sneakers were completely sold out.

Limited production products tap into those desirability drivers I talked about earlier. They can be seen as status symbols, have an air of exclusivity, and make owners feel unique and special.

Ordered mine one minute after the start time. Mine shipped and I should get it Thursday. I'm super stoked, first manix 2 and first m4. Plus the black dlc looks sick!

I was driving to work when it launched and it was sold out by the time my commute was over.

I was on the fence anyways but congrats to everyone who scored, it looks great.

Aren't DLT and BHQ both distributors? I don't understand......

DLT and BHQ are dealers. They sell to the public. Distributors sell to dealers.
The DLT Red PM2 was a distributor exclusive that DLT bought 100%. So they were the only dealer selling it.
This Manix2 was a BHQ dealer exclusive.

Regardless of whether it is a ditstributor exclusive or dealer exclusive, I thought both of those could be re-run multiple times like the Brown S35VN PM2 distributor exclusive and the Smurf Blue M390 PM2 Bento Box Shop dealer exclusive.

It is the Sprint runs like the Super Blue FRN models, Hap40 FRN models, upcoming VTOKU FRN models, etc that are Spyderco designed runs and are one time only.

So technically DLT's distributor can order more Red PM2s and DLT can buy them all again, or maybe the distributor distributes them to multiple dealers. And from my understanding, since the Manix M4 Jade is not a Sprint, BHQ should be able to do another run.

If I am incorrect someone please chime in, but that is my understanding.

I believe you are correct. I don't think BladeHQ expected these to sell out so fast. I wouldn't find it hard to believe if they decided to do another run.
