It doesn’t really matter. I am a Gerber carrier and I have 2 inch to almost 4 inch blades. Just get something 2 inch to around 4 inch. Also I prefer it be Gerber. Fact buck knives rust before Gerber knives do! I have proven it!

Buckbetterthangerber, a steel's inability to prevent rust is only a part of what makes a blade a good user or not. Case CV steel rusts easily, but it gets stupid sharp with very little effort. I despise Case stainless. The stainless Case knives I had wouldn't take a sharp edge.
I'd rather have a sharp edge that I have to oil every other night that will cut something!

Also, welcome to the forums!

Just got this in from AFAustin AFAustin sale thread where he uses all the funds for dogs that are waiting to be rescued from the pound, a worthy cause right there and this knife is one from Case made back in 1996, well made and handy.
It's main blade is just shy of 2 1/4" so it's shorter than my ideal blade length of 2 1/2", have a folder in bound to fill that though ;) but this Case sees duty as a perfect watch pocket carry and I will use it when I am packing up knives that I've sold, it carves the foam very nicely.

5” - 6.5” or so is ideal for me. I EDC a fixed blade, and have found that size range ideal. Been carrying my Buck 124 (6 5/8” blade) daily for a while now, and before that it was my Buck 119 (6” blade). A couple other knives I’ve used a lot are my custom from Gollik Knives (6.5” blade) and my Becker BK2 (5.25”)

As for strictly speaking of folders? I’d go with my Buck 110, so 3 3/4” blade. But I just got that, and it’s not my true “edc.”

When looking at all my choices, one thing that is very apparent to me is the preference for 4”-5” handle length. I really like having space on the handle to grip the knife comfortably.

I voted no limits, I am blessed with many choices for EDC and I tend to adapt my choice to the situation. I also live in a country where there are no restriction on blade length(but you could be arrested with a 1" blade if you declare it to be a weapon, tools are permitted, weapons are not).

Realistically, If I was to carry a blade 4" or longer I prefer it to be a fixed blade, and I only carry those when going into remote areas; my folders tend to gravitate between 2 1/2" to 3 1/2".

As long as favorite doesn’t mean only, 3” +/- a little is a good range for me. Useful length, easily pocketable, decent handle size. Blade length doesn’t come into play too much, I like what I like, but I do try to keep it 4” or below if I plan to carry it around a lot in public places.
