Blade Show '06

Yep I'll be there. No khuks on my table though...maybe if I get around to finishing the blade I forged years ago :) ;). I'll have a variety of pieces on the table, so stop by.

Fogo was good unless there is another place....maybe this time we won't get lost!

Technically, we didn't get lost on the way there. It just felt like it. :D We actually did follow the route that mapquest came up with.

But yeah, we did get lost on the way home though. That was a drag.

I'm going to see about staying right at the Renaissance Hotel, isn't that the one that is connected to the convention center? There's a lot to be said for walking home at the end of the night, and they had a pretty decent pub right there at the center.

Bump to the top...

And Bamboo, you're right technically we didn't get lost driving there...we got lost getting to the CAR in the parking lot.LOL

O.K guys who's up for dinner?
Fogo's again or somewhere else? Fogo's is great but it is not cheap.
Meeting up at Dan's table at the end of the day again sounds good.
Friday night? What night did we do it last year?
Let's get this a bit more firm.

I'll be there, not the wife tho. She's saving her vacation time for her family.

How many want VIP passes?

I got my info in the mail the other day....need to know how many passes I should request.

As soon as I get my table number...I'll let you guys know.

I don't mind Fogo's...but I'm a sucker for trying new things....so someplace new would be fine too.

True enough, Shappa. True enough. I'd actually forgotten about that. But at least we now know the parking layout for the entire conference center. :D

Last year was Fogo's on friday, and then a bunch of us went out for Mexican on saturday. Fogo's was expensive, but really, really good. I'm happy to go wherever.

Dan, I'd love a VIP pass if you can swing it. That is a great thing you do for us.

Anyone interested in sharing a room at the Waverly hotel? I think it's about $150/night, but right next door to the show. I don't snore...

Consider me a strong maybe. I'll have a better idea in a month after I see how much my new house is going to cost.

Dan I'd like two if possible. One for me and one for Brian...aka knifewerks.

Bamboo, have you already booked your room at the waverly? They are going fast.
Brian and I are splitting a room at the Courtyard by marriott. $89.00 per and the shuttle will take you back and forth to the show and close restraunts.

I'm coming for sure. I haven't asked the Mrs if she wants to come yet. Are other Mrs' going to the dinner. She'd probably like dinner better than the show. I'll probably try to get a buddy to tag along for the show, but my friends aren't knife nuts like me. I don't feel VIPish/haven't ever been a VIP, so don't feel bad if you've got to leave me off the list. I've got a spare room if anyone needs a bed for the night (Its a single but there is a couch, and plenty of floor space too).

Maybe someone from the area can give us some ideas of good restaurants to select from.

For a top of the line restaurant Rays on the River is right there. Other than that the restaurants I know of are more everyday common folk restaurants.

I am thinking seriously about coming down. There are a bunch of engravers gathering too. Their dinner is on saturday night.

I should know in a week or two. have to see how much the car repair bill will be.

Take care,

Tom

Well they can come too, but they have to ride in back in the bed of the truck

I had a great time last year this year I know to bring more cash and not to depend on the ATM at the mall.

Thanks Dan! So excited. This will be my first one, and my first chance to meet you fellas. Yay.

Edited to add: E-mail sent.

Remember the Alamo and remember the Blade Show of '06. Well, OK; maybe not the same, but still you guys get to have fun and I'm stuck with my responsibilities in Montana, for Barney and Sponge Bob Square Pants.
Good to have responsibilities though.
Being a gun nut I never dreamed of being interested in blades, but the khukuri pulled me in and all your enthusiasm is contagious. Good stuff.

Get a sitter and come stay with me. All it'll cost is the travel expenses. Everyone needs a break. It'll be much more Alamoish with you there.

Yeah, I inspire paranoia wherever I go. Still, it is neat to be surrounded by the excessively armed.
