hey..how do you know how well a dead hooker can take a punch ?? :D
...that one I'm going to have to remember ;)

I love the Bladeshow! but....my aching back hates it!!
I should get a booth one year and set up my chiropractic stuff. I could make enough to pay for the trip, surely! :D Of course, I'd have to get licensed in Georgia...

Tess, Danny & I will be there again this year. Don't know the table yet but, I wouldn't miss it.

Canranger,

The show OPENS at 12:00 on Friday...for those with vip passes anyway. :)

Technically, the PIT is a bar that's sunken down in the floor of the lobby. In this pic, you can see it in the middle-right.

(pic borrowed from Marriott hotels main site).

The hotel is beautiful. It is an atrium style... so you can see up all 14 floors from the floor of the lobby to the glass ceiling! It's very cool!

BUT, the PIT... for us whacky knifemakers, is just in reference to the entire lobby area.

It's both awesome and stupid, as you can open your hotel door at 3 am and hear a gentle roar. Look over the balcony railing, and the lobby will still be FULL of knife-nuts shooting the $hit. It's one of the best parts of the show!!!

Whether it's a fledgling maker, your hero maker, a fresh collector or a veteran one... they're down there enjoying each others' company.

I'm so excited!!! :D

Cool. I know I'll be there to meet and talk to you gents. :) Sounds like a great time for all. Can't wait.

Here's a cool shot of the lobby showing the details I was talking about... The PIT is in the lower right hand corner of the shot, the "bell chandeliers" in the foreground are all wood, and are awesome. You can see part of the glass ceiling.

And here's where you yahoos that drink too much keep finding yourself :p

It is kind of odd that there's a web-site where someone specifically took pics of the urinals. But then again, I'm reposting them ;)

Hey Nick, when do things rev up at the pit? I swung by last year but, I guess I was early...aside from being worn the he** out from the show. I never talked to so many people in my life.
;)

Hey Guys...

Last year when I went I went to the pit for a bit. Just a sunken floor bar in the one hotel can't remember the name not a bad meal served though. Definately a testosterone place. Needs more good looking women and less bragging knife makers....... ;)

The hotel you were at would be the Waverly.. The sunken floor bar would be "The Pit"

Now Abe.. You went to Atlanta for a knife show.. You want to see more women go to the Gold Rush.. :)

As memory serves, ,there were plenty of good looking women all over the place....

Eric...

Hey J.

I think it's later on. Some nights were pretty quiet, but still a lot of people there. I know there have been several nights where we had mad talks about knives all damn night. The first year I went, I think I got about 5 hours of sleep the entire 4 nights we were there. NO sleep 2 nights, and only a couple the other 2. It's insane... but then again, it is only ONCE a YEAR! :)

I'm looking forward to meeting you and Tess!

Almost ALL of the people you run into down there will be associated with the show in some way or another.

Some will be passed out ;)

Hopefully Trace Rinaldi will not be making gay advances toward me! :p

This is my first year going to Blade, I've got a table much further back than you guys. I'll be at table 21-D but hey I've got a table and am totally syc'd that I'll be there!

Can't wait to experience this and meet a whole bunch of people that I've only met on the forums.

Oh and I'm definitely gonna be checkin out the pit!

Sean

Hey guys, if I could only do one show, it would be Blade. This will be my 8th or 9th year there and I wouldn't miss it. I look forward to meeting some of you guys, I'm in the ABS section somewhere in the middle and I'll try to spend some time in the Pit but not to late cause I need my beauty sleep ;)

See ya there, Don Hanson lll

Thanks Nick. I look forward to meeting you and a bunch of you fellas there. I swear last year I met a ton of folks but, never even scratched the surface. Plus it's damn near impossible to get away from your table and walk around at Blade.

Sean, no sweat on the table location. We were in the back last year (I think 23 or something) and had a fantastic show. You just have to wait a bit longer for everyone to filter down. At least that way you can enjoy your voice for a little while longer.

Don, we'll probably be leaving the pit with you. A 2 yr. old (Danny Boy) does not allow late nights out.

Simple solution J.

Leave the 2 year old home :D

You guys are the independent, resourceful type, right? Your son ought to be plenty ready to stay home and watch over the place! ;)

Sean and Sean... look forward to meeting you fellas there :)

-Nick-

What was it Nick, "Nothing wrong with a little man love between freinds"? The fact that you looked like you were about to crawl right out of your skin made it even more funny.

Don't worry, Mayo got Trace back last year!

hey..how do you know how well a dead hooker can take a punch ??
...that one I'm going to have to remember

That would be a hard night to forget. And yes, he can take a punch like a dead hooker.

Nick,

Maybe you can do what I've been unable to so far....I can't get Famous Sheath Artist Tess and her husband, J. isn't it, (who gamely does what he can to put together some sort of a cutting tool to fit into her sheaths) to seriously discuss little Danny "The Slacker"'s integration into the family business. Best as I can tell (being what...4 states away??) they've been raising him in the normal fashion, you know...coddling, playing with him alot, seeing that he's well fed and safe and generally loving him like a firstborn son.
Well I see a lot of lost potential there....he SHOULD be able to keep the operation afloat while Mom and Dad go down the mountain and off to the big city to sell exquisite sheaths...with some sort of a knife in there somewhere, somehow. After all 2 years is plenty long enough to develop the required people skills to handle retail customers. All Tess has to do is build up a little stockpile of sheaths with some of J.'s metal thingies in them before she and Dad head out for Atlanta!
Don't you agree????

Larry, I couldn't agree more!!! :D Sounds perfectly reasonable in my book! ;)

Ron....Yea, that was one of the lines. One of many!!! :barf: :p

What were some more? Oh yea... "I got a little homo in me." "Look at Chuck's hands, that's a whole lotta man."

LMAO!!! I'll stop... 2 of them is bad enough, I don't need to add to it.

I was never REAL worried, until I thought he was gonna stab my femural artery with his neck knife! LOL!!!

Good times... Oh yes, Good times :D

Look'n forward to hanging out with you guys this year!!!
-Nick-
