David: As it turns out, this lock is as convenient to work left handed as right handed--probably more so. Instead of the thumb, you disengage the lock with the pointer or middle finder of the left hand. As a lefty, you don't even need to shift your grip to do it. It's very intuitive. I was originally considering doing a short number of lefty versions until we had protos in hand. The question would have been, "which is the "lefty version?" because it works so well for lefties as is. That may be difficult to envision without trying it yourself, but that has been the opinion from every lefty that has handled it so far.
