I sure hope that some people on the floor will hook us up with pictures and updates for us who could not make the show. Thanks in advance to all that help us out.

I got a text that all 5 MS applicants passed. I don't have names, but I There were several women.

Congratulations to the new Master Smiths.

Congrats to Franco (de Souza) and Sandro Boeck from Brazil and Facundo Montenegro, from Argentina.
They ocasionally post his knives here and are traditional exibitors at Salão Paulista de Cutelaria, the first São Paulo Knife show.

Hello!

Looking forward to all news since I could not go myself.

Congrats to all new JS and MS!

Great to hear that my old friend Dionatam Franco got his JS as well (not that I would have had the slightest doubt).

All the best,
Alex

PS: sad to see that Sam's dagger obviously didn't show up in time

I did not catch up on the awards, but I know Dave Lisch took Best Bowie and Best Damascus and Mike Williams got Best Hunter.

Really enjoying a terrific show.

I'm at show and also didn't catch awards. However I'm pretty sure Mike Quesenberry won best Hunter. At least that is what he said and had the award on his table to back it up. Maybe there were two different Hunter awards (utility and fancy)???
Can anyone confirm?

Wess Barnhill won the George Peck award for the best submission from a JS candidate.

I heard about the hunter award from Dave Lisch, but over the roar of the show it is possible that I heard the wrong Mike.

I'm sure we'll get the full list from someone.

I didn't see the knives of all the successful JS applicants but did see quite a few and thought them a strong group. I was particularly impressed with Wes' work and not surprised that he won the Peck. His knives impressed me the way Russ Andrews' knives did when I first saw them many years ago. Crisp, elegant lines and hyper-clean fit and finish.

The Peck Award knife was nicely engraved, something you don't see much in JS test sets.

Great show. Some really fine knives were presented by the MS applicants. Jean-Louis Regel's dagger especially impressed me. I didn't get to see all of Andrew Meers' test knives. Hopefully someone will post some pics...I hear they were amazing. There was a maker from Brazil who passed his JS whose work also impressed me. I don't remember the name but I think we'll be seeing some pretty special stuff from him. We left about 4:30 this afternoon and are almost to Arkansas. Dad picked up a few knives to do sheaths for so he should be able to keep busy until I get him some work of my own for him to do. ;) It was a great show for me. Lots of great people to hang out with...which is good since I sold out Thursday night:). Dad and I camped out at Lake Allatoona just outside Atlanta which made for a nice break from the busy show. Here's a pic from Thursday morning...this is the life!

So what ever happened with Sam Lurquin, I thought he was testing for his MS this year as well? I know the he (well , the mail service people) lost his MS dagger test knife, but he ended up making another one that he shared on FB. Anybody have any info/ updates regarding his situation? And did that original dagger ever surface yet?

Thanks :)

I took some photos if you guys would like to see, some didn't focus real well, because I was not there to take photos.
But to look at knives and hang out with great people. ( But I always appreciated when I could not go.)

I shot a bit of everything.......:)
