Is it cable damascus and does the handle look..long ?
Doug
The handle is way long, but that is obviously intentional. Like I said, I'd love to know more about the design, but unfortunately I don't.

Wow, double congrats on those scores. Test or not, Sam's knives went fast and I was fortunate to grab the Damascus Maximus. The subhilt was pretty sweet as well. I know he will be back next year ready to test.

Great score! The Natchez style bowie in the middle of the second pic would have been my grab if $$ was no object.... that's just plain wicked!!
That blade Roger is holding is one of the most amazing knife's I have ever seen! Congratulations, Roger!
Thank you David. I've always been a fan of the Maximus - a really out of the box take on a big fighter / bowie that has held a strong and visceral appeal for me even though my tastes generally run toward the more traditional.

The knife is really "Sam", if you get me. As much as I liked past models, like the one above, seeing the new model with the dramatic fuller, bold geometric Damascus pattern and fantastic carved ancient bog oak handle, well, I could not resist.
You wouldn't think this knife could really benefit from MORE visual drama, but to my eye the fuller really works here, giving the broad, beefy blade a more athletic look. And the long, turned-back guard is another change that I think works for the better.
I didn't haul a lot of knives away from Blade this year, but I feel very fortunate to have this one.

No worries guys/gals the "slicer" will be photographed by Caleb later this month. It is an amazing piece with good balance and light weight. Thanks Haley for giving a more detailed description. Serge is very talented with such great focus on the very fine small details (such as the scales of the dragon).
Cheers. That knife you mention is Sam's Musso Bowie - like my Maximus, it had been intended as a test knife. It is every bit as fantastic as you think, and was taken home by Joe Paranee:
Look for it in the 2015 Best Bowie thread.![]()
Thanks for the pics... Amazing! Love that blade.... Joe gets all the good ones.![]()
