Blade Show 2020

I sincerely can't believe they're trying to reschedule the show for anytime approaching this summer. The last thing anyone is going to want to do is walk around in two giant ballrooms crammed with several thousand people. All it will take is one person who's still contagious whose symptoms have subsided and he's so excited to go to BLADE for the first time that he uses poor judgement and thinks "Eeehhh, I'm feeling better, I'm sure it's fine" and he goes, has a great time, and in the process makes gets thousands of others sick, which, fun fact, folks won't even know what happened until a week or two later when they start developing C19 symptoms themselves.

I really don't understand why BLADE hasn't been cancelled.

As an overseas attendee to be, this was going to be my 3rd visit. It would be very difficult just to get plane tickets as there are none available, not to mention in the remote case that I do get them and travel I would face a mandatory 14 days state mandate quarantine out of my home.
Also forget most of the overseas knifemakers, they will face the same troubles.

On top of that, I'm pretty sure most of us know that a lot of the best makers in the world are in the most affected C19 age range, so they sure won't show either...

Its not going to happen until there is a cure/vaccine and we talk about this pandemic as an anecdote.

Lets hope for the best!

Just got a note that Blade Show 2020 rescheduled to August 7th to the 9th. Details to follow.

With it pushed to August I am hopeful that it will happen and I will be able to go haven't got my tickets yet and still waiting to see more about when the state of things will shift for the better.

I recommend a Hazmat suit. It’s what you’re going to want when being around all those people, some of whom will be asymptomatic carriers. I wish you and everyone else whose going to try to go the best of luck.

Right? This is how a resurgence happens...

I've been to every BLADE show since it has been in Marietta, and I'd say your description is more personal opinion. I'm going to go with 2/3rds was knives you had no interest in, not crap.
Of course there were many knives I wasn't interested in, but no, there were vendors selling frog skins, leather belts, coins, carved wooden figures, arrowheads, etc.

Maybe Blade Show West out here in PDX still has a shot in November, lol.

Though right now the Convention Center has been converted to a homeless shelter...

And? There were literally hundreds of knife maker and vendor tables....so?

I'm not really trying to hammer you here, I just want to make sure that folks who may not have been before, understand what you're describing is not in any way accurate to the actual BLADE show.

Next year's BLADE show will be epic, since all of the makers and companies should (hopefully) be there. And yes, there'll be companies selling coins, leather belts, and other things....among the (once again) hundreds and hundreds of knife makers, knife companies, and reseller tables.

Good luck with that. I won't buy tickets ahead of time as I would assume that that will be money tossed down a hole. It is not worth going with the threat of covid-19 hanging over the event regardless of whether the President and Governors decide to open up the country again to semi-normal business. The show is not worth dying for. Perhaps next year for Atlanta? I'll have plenty of time to save up disposable $ that is if I ever get any business again after this pandemic.

Things are going to have to REALLY IMPROVE to attend.

Well, they have now put it into the hurricane season; so it may be even more fun than just corvid 19.

In addition to the risk of infection, there is also the loss of income that many of us are experiencing

I say cancel and look forward to 2021
