BladeForum...LIE DETECTOR TEST....!!!

Never used them in the sharp maker.I have used them to punch out pins and screws. :D

I've had a Sharpmaker since 1987 and have never used the rods once. I've also never cut myself when sharpening. When I first had the Sharpmaker I sharpened very slowly and gradually got faster. Muscle memory keeps me from slipping off the rods.

Severtecher.....um......HOW do you use them "religiously?"

Like at airports to fend off "Moonies?"

:D

Gotta feel sorry for Spark. He .....hadda.....say he used em, bein an example an all.

:D

In secret rituals that only the initiated are allowed to speak about.

Don't you guys know anything? ;)

Used them the first time I set up the 204. Honestly have never used them since. Guess I am not a good role model, but still have all my digits.

They're always there but thats because I never take the thing down.

It seems that most guys here actually take down the rods and ceramics everytime they use their 204.

Are you guys always traveling with your sharpmakers? Why the hassle of breaking them down all the time?

Since it's always set up - yes.

(and I firmly believe that there's no such thing as an "accident" - only "rewards" for stupidity.)

I always use the brass safety rods when I am using the sharpmaker in the traditional way, however I occasionally take one of the triangular rods in hand for an ad hoc sharpening job, say to take a dent out of the edge on my axe, and there's no way to use the safety rods in a case like that.

I used the brass rods on Friday. I don't think it was the first time, but it might have been. I think that I've had my Sharpmaker for 2.5 years and have probably used it about a thousand times since then. So I use the brass rods at least 0.1% of the time.

I use them every time all the time. I have allot of times that I would have cut myself without them in place
